Who's right - me or DP? (Lighthearted)

So there we were at the dinner table, all over our healthy eating with bowls of fresh salad to go with our meal. One bowl - cucumber, olives, tomatoes. The other - rocket salad and spinach leaves. (See, :o healthy eating)

Half way through, I take the last few leaves of rocket and spinach.

DP "you took the last of the salad"

Me "there's more in the fridge if you want some"

DP "you emptied the bowl, therefore you replenish, mealtime etiquette"

Me "fuck off, the fridge is 3 foot away, if you want more go get it"

So.. was it my place to replenish? Or should the one who wants more, gets it themselves?

(He did eventually go get it :o so technically, I win!)

The one who wants more. 'Tis salad, not loo roll.

troisgarcons · 21/01/2012 22:22

You weren't polite enough to ask if anyone else wanted the last of the slad before taking it ...... Grin

cheesesarnie · 21/01/2012 22:22

weeeeeeeeeeeeelll in my house you are both wrong.i like to leave a tiny bit in the bowl.just a leaf or whatever Grin
but for the sake of this thread youre right hes wrong obv!

cheesesarnie · 21/01/2012 22:23

oh and what trois said

JustHecate · 21/01/2012 22:23

You're right. Whoever wants extra once what's on the table is gone - gets off their arse to go and fetch it.

AgentZigzag · 21/01/2012 22:24

Whoever wants more fills it up, why would you fill it up not knowing if anyone else wanted some?

Arf at the lighthearted warning in the title Grin

shootfromthehip · 21/01/2012 22:26

Same as cheese's house... you never actually finish it without asking if anyone else wants it (or my DD would have the end of all the nice stuff). If you do, your name is mud. That said, he wanted more so he should've gotten it himself.

WorraLiberty · 21/01/2012 22:26

You should have slammed his head into the bowl

Not particularly helpful, but satisfying all the same Grin

feedthegoat · 21/01/2012 22:26

Finders keepers here. If you want more you get off your backside and get some. 'If you want it, you get it' is probably my most overused phrase to ds!

TongueTwisted · 21/01/2012 22:27

Thank you ladies! Sorry trois, if I was entertaining friends or family, I would have definitely offered to refill the bowl but as it was just me and DP... he was just being a lazy arse!

Agent .. I didn't want people to think I was genuinely annoyed. Because that would have made me look really sad and worthy of a few eye rolls. :o

Who was nearer the fridge?

Bogeyface · 21/01/2012 22:29

The one who wants more. 'Tis salad, not loo roll.

Wss^^ :o

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 21/01/2012 22:29

'Tis salad, not loo roll.

Grin

Totally agreed. Isn't it funny how different things have different rules?

TongueTwisted · 21/01/2012 22:31

Beamur It was equal. And we have a tiny kitchen so it literally is 3 feet away from the tiny table because I'm of those that refuses to eat in the living room

EightiesChick · 21/01/2012 22:33

Yep, you want more, you get more. If you were hosting guests it'd be different. Plus I assume all the detail about what was in the bowls meant that there was cucumber/olive/tomato left, just not the other stuff? In that case, he could have had some salad so if he wanted a particular kind he needed to get it. HTH Smile

TongueTwisted · 21/01/2012 22:33

missValinder I completely agree.

And about the different rules, different things.

*Disclaimer - I always replenish loo roll.

PeneloPeePitstop · 21/01/2012 22:34

Leave. The. Bastard.

TongueTwisted · 21/01/2012 22:36

Exactly Eighties there was salad left so that means if he wanted more of a particular thing, he gets it.

He just doesn't understand that I'm always right.

EllenandBump · 21/01/2012 22:37

You are obviously right!! Why cant men start to take the phrase a woman is always right even when she is wrong a little more? Stupid thing to argue over. He was hungry enough to want more, he should go and get it,

troisgarcons · 21/01/2012 22:37

Hmmm treating guests better than you treat your partner - there's a another tangent on the disussion.

BTW - s/he who uses last of the loo roll replaces it Grin

FredFredGeorge · 21/01/2012 22:39

You were wrong to take the last without asking, however if he said yes he wanted some, he would've still been responsible for going to get you the extra so you could both have some.

The person who wants more rule should only happen when what's on the table has already been exhausted, otherwise the politeness of offering the remainders wins out.

pennypencil · 21/01/2012 22:39

YA both BU for use of the word replenish

AgentZigzag · 21/01/2012 22:41

Of course you treat your DP differently to a guest trois, your DP is in their own home for a start!

And I generally, although it can depend on who it is Grin don't let one go in front of guests Grin

TongueTwisted · 21/01/2012 22:43

Of course I treat my guests better, I don't have to sleep next to their constantly moving elbows every night :o

Bogeyface · 21/01/2012 22:43

Well speaking purely for myself, I cant think of a single dinner party I have given for guests where I have given them oral sex afterwards! Is that treating them better or worse? :o
