To mention a mistake on friend's tattoo?

thenightsky · 13/01/2012 21:22

I've toyed with posting this in Pedants' Corner.

DD's best friend has just had a HUGE tattoo on her side and over her hip... I won't post the whole verse, but it starts with 'Lifes too short'. She has posted it on FB and made it her profile pic.

Should I tell her that there is a missing apostrophe?

I would.

An apostrophe can easily be stuck on there.

BroomForMyChin · 13/01/2012 21:24

Yes Grin
But I am evil and quite tipsy.

JustHecate · 13/01/2012 21:25

oh - but NOT over facebook!

bigpants103 · 13/01/2012 21:25

A missing one i would mention as it can be added. I don't think i'd mention an extra one though.

southeastastra · 13/01/2012 21:26

that's easily rectified. amazes me how people don't check grammar and spellings on tattoos

thenightsky · 13/01/2012 21:26

Oops... I mentioned it Blush

You actually think that people who ink themselves in have any concept of grammar?

check post for typo, punctuation, split infinitives, capitalisation blah blah

Flanelle · 13/01/2012 21:28

Welllll. Tattoos are such a devilmaycare, unpunctuationy thing aren't they?

SuePurblybilt · 13/01/2012 21:28

I think you should have at her with a Sharpie.

kittensmakemesqueee · 13/01/2012 21:29

Yeah I would in that case. I thought it was going to be one of those ones where they got something in a foreign language they don't actually speak..in which case it's probably not worth it.

Hmm Biscuit

[resists temptation to point out extra word in that sentence]

southeastastra · 13/01/2012 21:30

of course the good ones have a concept of grammar :S

troisgarcons · 13/01/2012 21:32

I was piss taking - I thought my italics showed that ..... christ you lot are so devoid of humour sigh

mumatron · 13/01/2012 21:33

a friend of mine has had a tattoo recently on the back of her neck.

'never regret the things you've done, only regret the things you have'nt'

I don't think she's realised yet.

nenevomito · 13/01/2012 21:34

"Never regret the things you've done"

...even if they include permanent bad spelling on the back of your neck.

thenightsky · 13/01/2012 21:35

have'nt'

ahahhaha.... but she cannot see it on the back of her neck Grin

southeastastra · 13/01/2012 21:36

you should have added a Wink trois before you start accusing us of having no soh!!

scarletforya · 13/01/2012 21:36

That reminds me! Whatever happened about that poster whose BIL got something daft written in German on his leg?

Wonder did she ever tell him....

theincredibequeenofwands · 13/01/2012 21:37

This is one of the reasons I haven't had the quote I want tattooed done.

I've seen sooooo many tattoos with spelling mistakes!

An apostrophie can be put in though. Tell her.

missmiss · 13/01/2012 21:37

What did she say??

SuePurblybilt · 13/01/2012 21:39

Are you not also wondering where the rest of the tattoo went? Life's too short for what? Or is she having a moan about her four-score and ten expectancy?

fruitshootsandheavesupafurball · 13/01/2012 21:40

fortunately not as bad as these

thenightsky · 13/01/2012 21:43

no no... i have seen the whole tattoo... just couldn't be arsed to repeat it all on MN.

OP posts:
foosty · 13/01/2012 21:44

I would tell her, it's easily rectified

and tell her it could have been worse...she could've got something like

this

SuePurblybilt · 13/01/2012 21:44

Oh I am confussed now. So it says Lifes Too Short.... and then there's more?
Blimey.
