Chubfuddler · 06/01/2012 18:03

Did you know bob holness did the sax solo on baker street?

He didn't but as far as little known facts that arent actually true go, it's a good one.

luvviemum · 06/01/2012 18:04

I think it's sad - he was brilliant on Blockbusters and a very good broadcaster.

PreviouslyonLost · 06/01/2012 18:04

YANBU Sad

OriginalJamie · 06/01/2012 18:04

He played James Bond once (first person to do so). Fact.

PreviouslyonLost · 06/01/2012 18:05

...and he was the first (radio) James Bond.

Chubfuddler · 06/01/2012 18:08

First jimmy saville and now him Sad. Blockbusters was genius, always wanted to be on it.

lisaro · 06/01/2012 18:11

My partner said that about Jimmy Saville, Chub. He thinks John Craven should be looking over his shoulder......

I said that on the other thread, catgirl.

'I liked Bob.'

Great minds.

catgirl1976 · 06/01/2012 18:18

We are as one LineRunner Grin

LineRunner · 06/01/2012 18:23

Are you vulcan, catgirl?

I liked that bit at the end of Blockbusters, what was it called, the Gold Run? Where you had stuff like 'OUAT' and the clue was 'the start of a story' or somesuch, and the strangely-dressed teenagers had to race across the board to win a booktoken.

I loved blockbusters and (showing my age here) used to rush home from school to watch it at 5:15 every evening.
I soo wanted to go on that show, and do you remember loads of them would take part in their school uniforms with their fluffy mascots, and then the cool ones would be wearing non-uniform!

GoingForGoalWeight · 06/01/2012 18:27

R.I.P Bob :(

I used to love Blockbusters. Great quiz game.

x

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 06/01/2012 18:28

YANBU - but please can your partner try and not jinx poor Jim Craven, I love him.

catgirl1976 · 06/01/2012 18:29

oooh ooh! Once Upon A Time! Do I get a prize :) It was the gold run- I remember thinking it was SO exciting! Watched a few episodes recently whilst on maternity leave and it was perhaps less tense than I remembere but I still really liked it Blush And I always wished Bob WAS my uncle. He'd make a BRILLIANT uncle.

LineRunner - yes - have mind-melded with you :)

Feminine · 06/01/2012 18:29

I didn't know that.

Thats sad :(

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/01/2012 18:31

I loved Blockbusters! Another part of my childhood gone. Am getting old!

LineRunner · 06/01/2012 18:32

I am so old that when I had maternity leave I think Blockbusters was still on the proper telly.

Bob was soooo patient.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 06/01/2012 18:50

Why this has just reminded me I do not know, but I was given a painting by a local artist once, it's done in purples and whites and is of Dean Martin.

My SIL, on seeing it, said "Oh look, It's Gordon Banks from the Krypton Factor. Why have you got a picture of him?"

Chubfuddler · 06/01/2012 19:06

The team of one had fewer hexagons to do to win. Still seemed a bit unfair.

Arf at "strangely dressed teenagers".

LineRunner · 06/01/2012 19:14

Oh I remember now, thanks Chub; the solo strangely dressed teenager went down the board, and the duo went across the longer route.
