I always thought the solo player was smarter than the duo so had a double advantage!

Loved Bob's cocked little finger when he held the cards.

RIP Bob.

RIP Bob.

'I'll have an E please Bob.'

fruitshootsandheaves · 06/01/2012 19:38

I remember watching it!

Notanexcitingname · 06/01/2012 19:45

I seem to remember the idea was to prove that two aren't necessarily better than one.

But I'm not sure they succeeded.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 06/01/2012 20:00

I loved Blockbusters. It's a shame he didn't live to see the revival of the show.

pranma · 06/01/2012 20:46

I loved Blockbusters too-R I P Bob :(

captainbarnacle · 06/01/2012 20:52

OH was one of those strangely dressed teens

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 06/01/2012 20:55

I've recently started watching the old episodes on Challenge and Googled Bob just last week. I loved that show. Watching back he was a great host...really patient and made it quite interesting with his little comments.

I agree the two against one thing was unfair..the single had to get four right and the duo had to get five. (I don't remember thinking that when watching as a child)

RIP Bob

Just watching a clip on the news. The strangely dressed teenagers look at least 37.

Aw- I loved it too- used to watch it with my mum Sad

He's off to the great Gold Run in the Sky.

carernotasaint · 06/01/2012 23:05

i remember one particular episode where Bob asked a contestant a question involving the letter O. The young bloke said orgasm when he clearly meant organism. Bob dealt with it in such a classy funny way. He stood there and grinned and then said "For reasons i cant go into i cannot accept that as an answer." Fabulous. R.I.P Bob.

LineRunner · 06/01/2012 23:25

Crikey, he was 83.

What were you wearing, captainbarnacle? There seemed to be a lot of brown-based flowery blouses and flick fringes.

Sidge · 06/01/2012 23:33

I was sad to hear that Bob H had died.

Blockbusters was a fundamental part of my TV viewing when I was at 6th form college.

My friend Kate and I even applied! We didn't get on though which was a shame as I was quite good at it when I played along at home. Maybe my silk-effect shirt and paisley waistcoat weren't the fashion look they wanted Grin

PermanentlyOnEdge · 06/01/2012 23:37

I was one of those teenagers.

It was videoed of course by my loving family. I was one of a pair and we got to our fourth gold run. Having my princess Di influenced clothing and 80's big hair immortalised for all time is truly awful. My moment of ultimate embarrassment; 'can I have U please Bob?'.

The holiday we won was nice.

Bob was a true gent. I still have my autographed Blockbusters dictionary.

Adieu, Bob.

LineRunner · 07/01/2012 00:36

Oh Permanently that's brilliant! Smile

carernotasaint · 07/01/2012 01:10

Permanently what a lovely post. And so lovely that you still have the dictionary.

TuesdayNightClub · 07/01/2012 01:44

YANBU. He was always so lovely on Blockbuster with the youngsters. He is like the polar opposite of Jeremy Paxman.
