Little Gossip

I think it might be fun and make it less cool for the kids!

Gosh, what a horrendously mean spirited site Shock

There have been so many reports recently of teenagers committing suicide after being bullied I'm not sure how the creators of that site can live with themselves. No doubt they think the "must be over 18" disclaimer makes it all OK Hmm

Hullygully · 06/01/2012 16:09

wow.

Shock No gossip in our area though.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/01/2012 16:30

I doubt you could, OP, except perhaps a 'mob of mindless morons'... Hmm

What is wrong with you that you think it 'might be fun'?

ChickensGoMeh · 06/01/2012 16:32

I thought the OP was suggesting we all invade and talk about vair vair dull things, thus closing it down.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 16:33

it is horribley shocking. It was actually closed down but has started up again. There is a petiton you can sign to get it shut down, search Paul Rispoli petition.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/01/2012 16:35

But OP, even if your intentions were good, all you're doing is publicising it. Any parent with any sense would keep their kids off the site altogether.

Apologies though for jumping to the conclusion that you were wanting to propogate the gossip.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 16:35

Exactly Chickens. I thought we could all discuss nice ham, bum slapping and acorn throwing. The kids wouldn't know what hid them Grin.

DancesWithWolves · 06/01/2012 16:36

Once again my work fire wall will not let me through. I must out on so much.

Spiteful Gossip.
Blow up dolls.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 16:38

That is my only issue Lying that it would create more traffic and publicity. I wonder if MNHQ would want to get involved in publicising the petition.

Shock I just tried to report a piece of "gossip" and it said you have to submit your own piece of gossip in order to report anything!

"PLEASE READ THIS TO UNDERSTAND THE REPORT SYSTEM:
Want to report a gossip? LittleGossip does not support cyber bullying and wants to maintain a positive vibe on the site.
With this in mind we have designed an option for a user to remove offensive gossip in return for one positive/light-hearted/funny post.
You can submit one piece of gossip about yourself or anyone you know and get the gossip you reported removed.
Please note, we have sophisticated monitoring systems in place and if gossip submitted doesn't make sense then the gossip you were trying to remove will come back."

Angry Angry Angry

SuePurblybilt · 06/01/2012 16:40

Hideous. I just saw this:

fat black bitch thinks she better then everyone but really should be picking cotton and give back to the people he got her family free from slavery

And clicked on 'report'. Apparently they won't remove offensive posts unless the person reporting them 'adds some gossip'. A post for a post. FFS.

So disgusting.

giyadas · 06/01/2012 16:42

do you know the names of the people who set up the site? Then we could fill it with gossip about them (and their love of sexdolls, bumsex and ham fetishes)

CoffeeDog · 06/01/2012 16:44

No Gossip on minr except lynsdsey thinks she is well fit?? and somone likes cake MUMSNETTER ???? :)

CatPussRoastingByAnOpenFire · 06/01/2012 16:47

How pleasant! not

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 16:49

Heres another thread with details of petition etc on.

OP posts:
wahwahwah · 06/01/2012 16:52

Nasty, really really nasty.

DozyNosy · 06/01/2012 19:42

It really is vile. Seriously it deserves a MN campaign against it, I'm not suer how they start (I'm a bit new to MN). Surely the bit that SuePurblybilt repeated is actually illegal even if it is by an "anonymous" poster, it must be illegal for the Little Gossip site owners to keep it up there. Someone from MNHQ must know about this stuff.
If your reading this MNHQ. Is it illegal? Can you organise a campaign?

OliviaMumsnet · 06/01/2012 20:08

Hi there
Thanks for your concerns here, I'm not sure where the campaigns team are on this but I'll certainly flag it to them.

Please be advised though, that we would never condone an invasion of ANY other site, no matter how well-intentioned the motives for doing so.
Thanks
M Towers

DozyNosy · 06/01/2012 20:34

Olivia Thanks that's great! Do you know if it is illegal for the site operators to allow racist comments to be posted. If someone posted racist things on MN then you would take it down, is that because you are legally obliged to or because you are lovely ethical ladies, or both of course?

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 20:42

Thanks Olivia. I did chuckle at your last couple of lines though. You often seem to be the MNHQer who has to deal with the silly things Grin. Am now imagining a group of Mumsnetters trotting over to LG and hurling various MN items, bsicuits, nice ham, acorns, Mooncups etc.

Doz I think that racist comments are illegal, although not sure exctly how this is defined/policed.

OP posts:
DozyNosy · 06/01/2012 20:51

Can I add Pombears to your stash of ammo Ihavewellies. How are acorns a MN item (sorry bit dim)?

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 06/01/2012 20:55

I know tis a bit disgusting but I was trying to think of mn related things. Are you not aware of 'bum slapping and acorn throwing'? We always to the bum slapping too. I shall but pom bears on the list.

OP posts:
DozyNosy · 06/01/2012 21:06

No not heard of bum slapping and acorn throwing Blush. I'm a bit of a newbie, maybe I should go and swat up.
