I just get the hang of which people on here I don't like and then everybody changes their name. It's annoying. Stop it.

Yes I agree. If you're going to have a Crimbo-alter, at least have it near enough to regular name to recognise! Tis vair vair confusing.

YANBU if it's all the time but most posters have a bit of fun with a festive version, or namechange for something that might identify them too closely,or maybe is just too plain personal, so YABU

Agree it can be confusing but then I never remember who has posted on what threads with me much unless it was a heated prolonged discussion.

It makes it hard to carry on a good vendetta, and if nobody agrees with me I'll just name change and agree with myself. And what happens when all the possible names have been used? Nobody else will be able to join Mumsnet!

I did a 'festive' name change, can't find laptop to change pigging thing back!

I don't namechange because when I do I end up locked out as I can never remember how I spelt the new name, tis not worth the hassle.

Im on the fence with this one. The names people have can be a bit of fun (hence all the christmassy ones). Some people want to remain anonymous so change constantly others want to get to 'know' some people with similar views so want to keep the same name (or at least only change it ever so slightly). Its good to keep the same name so you can be part of an online community, but you might not want to be in that online community so namechange. Each to their own really.

I however, never notice one name to the next. I read each comment as its own and unless a poster referred back to a previous comment I wouldnt have a clue it was the same person. There are names I do recognise though, but dont really know much about the person.

Some RL cockend outed me so I have to namechange regularly now.

I suspect MN would be just like fucking NMs a much more boring place if we couldn't.

No Im not on the fence YABU to suggest people shouldnt change their names. Each to their own. I personally am not going to change again, Ive only been on here 2 years, but not well known yet due to name changes.

YABU - I am forever name changing and not sure how much it matters seeing as this place is HUGE - I recognise about 1 in 5 posters now a days.

I dont care one way or the other. Some names do pop up more than others, or so it seems. They might just have outstanding sorts of names.
I am going to change mine soon and see if I stlll keep killing threads
