chav

no i do not think i am being unreasonable to think that those who call other people chavs are idiots, why do you need to belittle in such a way does it make you feel better, make you feel more middle class, do you think it makes you appear more intelligent Hmm what little small minded world do you live in that someone calling a child a particular name or nickname immediately means to you they are chavs

really its a little pathetic

The thing with 'chav' as a derogatory term is that its only insulting if it is used negatively as an umbrella term and someone feels as though they fit the description.

Other derogatory terms are that refer to race, disability, age, sexuality are ugly, but cannot be disputed as one either is or is not the thing that is being negatively picked on, and one cannot help it.

But to term someone a chav is purely subjective.

Freudian, chavs are quite happy to be known as that. It's only people who accidentally fall under the umbrella term that are unhappy and they are clearly self aware enough to change it!

Besides chavs are just as capable of looking down on and insulting other people.

They weren't called 'chavs' at the time, but when I was super-goth, I had 'chavs' (and only chavs) yelling at me all the time. Never bothered me though, I always knew I was better than them! Xmas Wink
