AIBU?

To get the arse about this?

PIL came for lunch at the weekend. FIL is a difficult character and practically the first thing he said as he arrived was "do you still believe in Father Christmas?" He addressed the question to the DCs who are twelve and ten. Now fair enough the elder probably doesn't......but still.

WIBU to get the arse and go to the kitchen to neck a glass of wine compose myself whilst rattling saucepans?

Are you trying to irk, miff, nark, cheese off, vex or even give people the arse, ClodTurkey? Xmas Hmm

Nope.

I just think you have all missed the point.

Chaos the trucky

Are you aware you are a trucky? Is this intentional and witty or another alternative spelling?

Anyway I think we all spectacularly missed the point when we failed to help the op and instead started to compile the Definitive Guide to Narkedness.

I thought spitting feathers meant that you were thirsty. I range between a bit miffed and incandescent with rage.

It was incredibly rude, and asking does indeed imply that it is possible to not believe in Santa, which, if they do, isn't up for question. How did they react?

The elder was non-committal. The younger was talking to MIL and I had left the room so I'm not sure what he said, or whether he replied. I know the elder one knows, IYSWIM, I just think it's mean to ask anyway at this time of year. He is still excited by getting and opening his stocking and I think that's how it should be. The younger still chooses to believe but he knows lots of people at school say it is really your parents.

May I be so bold as to add piqued to the list?

You have no idea how difficult it was to type that; the q button on the keyboard came off and my DH fixed it by gluing it with superglue. You now have to press REALLY HARD at JUST THE RIGHT SPOT to type the letter.... and the you either end up with one of said letter (can't be ARSED to type it again) or a whole great long line of them...

Anyway OP, YADNBU - just tell your DCs that PIL is being a real silly billy, and that Santa certainly won't be leaving him any presents.

LOL at Honeydragon - great story!
