Sleep dramas with DP

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:11

Hi all, just wanted an outsider opinion please! My DP hates it when we sleep facing eachother, so he asks me to roll over when I am facing him and he wants to lie that way. The thing is I never ask him to do this and I keep thinking its petty, but I am not getting a good nights sleep because of it. What can I say to make him understand that he needs to deal with it sometimes. I dont want to get into a fight, I just want to be able to sleep facing whichever way I want. Sorry its such a lame thing its just really getting at me. Any advice would be appreciated.

YABY. I hate being breathed on. Yuk.

JamieComeHome · 12/12/2011 16:14

I also like to sleep facing away from my DH, but it's easily fixed by me rolling over. Also, if he needs to face one way, can you swap sides of the bed?

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/12/2011 16:14

Sorry, why can't he roll over? Hmm, maybe he IBU.

LiviaAugusta · 12/12/2011 16:15

I hate being breathed on too but consider it my problem rather than my DH's. I only ask him to move if he snores but otherwise as long as he's on his side of the bed it's up to me to move and make sure I'm not being breathed on.

wilkos · 12/12/2011 16:16

I hate being breathed on too, but as its his problem he needs to roll over not make you!

haddock1976 · 12/12/2011 16:16

YANBU

I don't like sleeping face to face with DH so I roll over, wouldn't dream of asking him to!

HecklerNotKoch · 12/12/2011 16:16

cant stand facing each other in bed. Horrible

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:17

Thats what I figured, if he doesnt like it he can roll over. We have a kingsize bed so its not even like we breathe on eachother (gross) and I only ever face him for like half an hour max at a time and then roll over. I just hate that he asks me to roll over when he could just roll over himself. I guess its pretty lame! We both sleep facing the outsides of the bed and roll into the middle a few times a night, but the majority of the time we both face the outside.

You could sleep top-to-tail

oldmerryolesoul · 12/12/2011 16:19

Tell him to stop being so selfish. if he doesnt like it HE should roll over not get you to so he can sleep in the position he likes

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:21

I dont know how to bring it up with him cos he says I am selfish when I mention it. He really doesnt get it. Its doing my head in cos I will be falling asleep and he will be like 'dont you think its time your rolled over?'. grrrrrrr

OP posts:
AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:22

Especially as Im pregnant and its hard to get into a comfy position sometimes!

OP posts:
JamieComeHome · 12/12/2011 16:22

Is he like this about anything else? Accusing you of being selfish for minor reasons?

JamieComeHome · 12/12/2011 16:23

Well, being pregnant gives you even more reason to tell him to stick it. I practically needed a crane to roll me over by the end of mine.

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:24

yeah it is in his personality to be a bit of a narcisist, thats why its so hard to get him to understand that he is acting out of line.

OP posts:
AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:24

Thanks for making me feel like Im not overreacting :)

OP posts:
JamieComeHome · 12/12/2011 16:25

oh dear

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 16:40

Any suggestions on what I can say to make him see he IBU?

OP posts:
JamieComeHome · 12/12/2011 16:43

You are being unreasonable. It's hard for me to get comfortable, and as my lover and father of my child, your interest in my comfort should be paramount at this time. Roll over yourself, I am not doing this on purpose to piss you off.

If he can't get this it doesn't bode well

TattyDevine · 12/12/2011 16:43

He is being unreasonable.

Do people really hate being breathed on?

I have a king sized bed to be fair but my husband's breath smells like a meadow Grin

I'm sure mine does too Grin Grin

Anyhoo - if he dosn't like being breathed on he can roll, and if you don't like being breathed on you can roll

He IBU

Livingwiththefamished · 12/12/2011 16:46

I hate it when DP faces me in the night. I don't like hearing him breathe!

But I roll over, not him. YANBU.

DoesNotGiveAFig · 12/12/2011 16:50

I make DP roll as revenge for his snoring [evil] Grin

ps I know it isn't his fault yadda yadda

pps he gets revenge anyway as he farts as he falls asleep Xmas Grin

DoesNotGiveAFig · 12/12/2011 16:50

haha I said DP and he's now DH!

KittyFane · 12/12/2011 17:17

Ask him to roll before he asks you and ask him to brush his teeth before bed whist you're at it
Ok, maybe not :(!

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 17:39

That a good idea kitty i will start asking him to roll over and he can see how annoying it is!
