www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/3979976/Im-spending-3200-on-Christmas-its-paid-for-by-my-benefits.html

Right this is not really about the benefits per say more to do with WHY do these people allow their families to apper in the paper wether your to the right or to the left.

I wouldn't say boasting about how much money you get is tackey even more so if yu not earned it, also why we get so pissed off with bankers

So my question what type of a person puts themselves up for a interview like this ??

I often wonder why these people with lots of kids think they will get out of doing these kind of interviews unless they either want to piss the tax payers off, give geuine claminets a bad name or really are proud of their life style.

I'm not bothered about her being on benefits... We get benefits and are likely to for a while as DH has a prolapsed disc and can't work ATM.

It's the debt that makes me so sad. Nobody should be going into that much debt just for gadgets, especially when they will not even be paid off by next Xmas when the whole cycle starts again. Waiting for the Provvy Man to come knocking is no way to live.

JockTamsonsBairns · 07/12/2011 11:28

More benefits bashing Maypole ?

DitaVonCheese · 07/12/2011 11:35

I have been in the Sun. I thought they'd probably misrepresent me but was too naive to think they'd actually make up direct quotes. She probably didn't say most of what they've "quoted".

AmberLeaf · 07/12/2011 11:45

In my view this women sums up why so many feel so strong towards people who claim

No that twisted articles sums up why people who cant think for themselves feel so strongly towards their interpretation of benefit claimants

And in no way embarrassed by not being able to provide for their families which you should be

Why should she be embarrassed?

The way things are going with unemployment at the moment there will be a lot of embarrassed people out there, why should they feel shame? most people dont choose to be on benefits you know.

You are blatently benefit bashing so dont pretend otherwise.

elliejjtiny · 07/12/2011 11:51

My boys are about the same age as hers. I can't understand why children that age would get bullied for not having a wii or designer clothes. We have a wii and none of my boys are that interested in it tbh although sometimes my eldest will ask to join in if I'm using the wii fit. They wouldn't know what designer clothes were. DS1 has asked for a football, a new train for his wooden railway and a bracelet from accesorize. DS2 doesn't care as long as there is enough roast potatoes and chocolate. DS3 will probably prefer the boxes and the wrapping paper.

FellatioNelson · 07/12/2011 12:32

I think whether she is on benefits or not is almost irrelevant - no-one should be spending that sort of money on such young children. Why on earth do they need a TV, a Wii AND and an Xbox, when two of them are too young to even used the bloody things?

She makes an interesting point about the casual attitude to credit card debt and bankrupcy though. Both are far too easy to come by, and if the former was kept under better control there would be far less need for the latter.

hackmum · 07/12/2011 17:49

The newspaper would have approached her and told her they were planning a sympathetic article on the kind young mum doing her best for her kids for Christmas. Then they will have stitched her up.

Probably she's not all that bright, especially if she's going that much into debt just to buy Christmas presents for her kids. Possibly the paper paid her and she thought she wouldn't have to borrow so much.

slavetofilofax · 07/12/2011 18:02

She should be embarrased because she is churning out children she can't afford to provide for. She is living like a parasite on the rest of us that pay tax. People who get stuff on credit that they will never be able to pay back are a big part of why the country is in a financial mess. Of course she should be ashamed.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/12/2011 18:03

Stich up. that's what the tabloids do. They will have promised a lovely article about her and her cherubs and then will have painted her out to be some kind of benefit cheat.

It's done to incite anger and bigotry among the readers. Textbook Daily Mail stuff, I'm surprised it isn't in their newspaper.

I hope they at least paid her well for the story.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/12/2011 18:04

What beautiful children she has, have just looked at the article.

Xales · 07/12/2011 18:06

Two separate things here.

The stupidity of thinking any very young child needs more than an empty box with wrapping paper (how many of us have been there?!?!). No child needs £500 spent on them for Christmas!

Then crappy journalism.

How can someone be a SAHP and be on job seekers? I thought you had to go and sign on to say you were looking for work and apply/attend interviews and only got JSA for x months? She clearly states she is not looking for work...

Bloodymary · 07/12/2011 18:09

Xales as someone else said upthread, she cannot be on job seekers allowance.
It will be income support.

cory · 07/12/2011 18:10

I have no idea what she clearly states: all I can see is what the SUn claims she states Hmm

usualsuspect · 07/12/2011 18:11

oh gawd ,maypoles off on one

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 07/12/2011 18:18

she's not spending £3500 of her benefits on christmas. It's a very misleading headline and although if you've half a brain, when you read the article you can see what's really going on, there will be a lot of shitferbrains frothing at the mouth over this. I hope she understands the abuse she is likely to get in the street after this Sad.

She's not pulling £3500 out of her arse for christmas. She is getting herself into great whacking amounts of debt! Added to what she still owes from last year.

At god knows what interest rate, because the only place someone on benefits is likely to get loan upon loan is provident or similar, at frightening interest rate.

And next year, when she still owes a couple of thousand from this year and last year - but it won't be a couple of thousand she'll have to pay back! It'll be a couple of thousand plus terrifying interest charges! she'll go back to the provvy or whoever, and do it all over again.

And one day, she'll look at her finances and realise she's 20 grand in debt with no way of paying it back.

It's very sad.

slavetofilofax · 07/12/2011 19:03

Yes, and then she'll go bankrupt, so the companies that lose out on their money will end up charging their other customers more, cause insurance premiums to go up, or go bankrupt and create job losses. People that knowingly get into debts they can't pay are selfish and irresponsible.

Anniegetyourgun · 07/12/2011 19:13

And people who believe everything they read in the Sun are gullible.

Dawndonnathatchristmasiscoming · 07/12/2011 19:17

Trust Maypole to get the bashers out again. I was ignoring this earlier, hoping it had a died a death.
Merry Christmas, folks!

callmemrs · 07/12/2011 19:30

Yeap slave, exactly.

Of course The Sun are scum- and so is this woman for selling her kids to them. Bloody awful excuse for a mother

PetiteRaleuse · 07/12/2011 22:21

I need money. I recently sold a story to a red top. They requested and published a pic of my Dd. Am i therefore Scum?

MrsChemist · 07/12/2011 22:35

Off-topic, but whyalways flat screen tellys? Haven't we reached a point now where all tellys are flat screen? Having one is no longer a luxury that only the rich can afford.

It should change to 3D tellys.

MrsChemist · 07/12/2011 22:37

Basher, not badger Blush

Though I like the idea of a benefits badger, sitting in his set, bitching about the country going to the dogs.

TeaCider · 07/12/2011 22:41

Chuckling at Benefit Badger.

Bossybritches22 · 07/12/2011 22:42

Excellent Mrs C...I now have that image firmly in my mind!! Grin

Benefits badger-lobbing half eaten food at the passing wildlife.

TeaCider · 07/12/2011 22:43

Sorry MrsC didn't see your other post. Fab typo, I have such a comical visual scene inside my head now. Xmas Grin
