www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/3979976/Im-spending-3200-on-Christmas-its-paid-for-by-my-benefits.html

Right this is not really about the benefits per say more to do with WHY do these people allow their families to apper in the paper wether your to the right or to the left.

I wouldn't say boasting about how much money you get is tackey even more so if yu not earned it, also why we get so pissed off with bankers

So my question what type of a person puts themselves up for a interview like this ??

I often wonder why these people with lots of kids think they will get out of doing these kind of interviews unless they either want to piss the tax payers off, give geuine claminets a bad name or really are proud of their life style.

Aren't her boys just lovely!

Wish I hadn't read it though. I should have spent the time reading something improving instead.

CheerfulYank · 07/12/2011 06:54

They are precious little boys, aren't they?

callmemrs · 07/12/2011 06:59

Poor kids having a mother who sees them as fodder for the tabloids. Lets hope they grow up to have a little more self worth....though with a role model like that it's perhaps not very likely

It's a well designed piece of crap designed to get people like you all riled up OP, don't give them the satisfaction!

NinkyNonker · 07/12/2011 07:32

Meant to say there is one of these every year I'm sure, I remember a similar one last year. Stock and trade Christmas tabloid article.

LovesBloominChristmas · 07/12/2011 07:36

I read this at my mums yesterday and my lasting thought? I winder where she got the boys cardies from? Xmas Grin

Bossybritches22 · 07/12/2011 07:41

If she's worried the kids would be bullied for not having designer gear & the latest gadgets (sad if that's the example she's setting her sons) then she should stand by for the roasting she & they will get following this article fabricated or not!!!

HoneydragonAteCliffRichard · 07/12/2011 07:52

The bit about being £300 worse off will not have come from her. I have had dealings with the CAB before and their offices are pretty hit and miss. Some of them regularly miscalculate benefits whilst telling people how to manage their debt.

It can me a case that you may as well stay on benefits and it's financially the same. But I often surprised people by calculating properly what they would take home with ctc, wrc and childcare entitlement if they worked 16 hours on a basic wage.

All this article wants to do is in flame people. It makes me sad.

maypole1 · 07/12/2011 09:08

ThAnis for he replies ladies

Just wondered she she would do such a thing and let her whole coumminty know she is on the benefit these article and never favourable and even if they were I think its very tacky to boast about the amount of money you get especially when your not paying that

Their was one with a women who had 8 kids I think a while back she even ended up on this morning :(

In my view this women sums up why so many feel so strong towards people who claim
Some seem boastful they don't they don't have to work and can still afford sometimes more than working people

And that its their god given right to claim indignant almost in the right

And in no way embarrassed by not being able to provide for their families which you should be

And not remorseful for having children on whilst knowing you have no money

I feel very sad for her children brought up to believe uncle government pays for Christmas and that even if you don't have the money you still get everything you want

HoneydragonAteCliffRichard -

I don't think people are inflamed I think I just feel sad for he children because she seems to be giving the children everything they want but nothing they need

She is not poor because she is on benefits she is poor because of her attitude

WhoopsyLa · 07/12/2011 09:20

The journo wll have said "We want to do a piece on how single Mums cope at Christmas...how on earth can you manage to give your boys a good day when you don't have a lot of cash?" and she fell for it.

Her ignorance is sad.

Maypole..... You are blatantly benefit bashing now. You said you posted this to discuss WHY someone would do an interview. But you have glossed over that and are now picking benefit claimants apart!!

WhoopsyLa · 07/12/2011 09:48

Vivian I love the image of the journos in nests! I don't think you are far wong...I worked for a BBC comedy show a couple of years ago and it was quite "high brow"...some of the writers were like vampires...evil, snotty and always on the look out to poke fun at the unfortuate. The Sun's staff must actually be scum dwelling pond life in comparison!

pictish · 07/12/2011 09:51

The Sun.

What a shit article...she is certainly by no means typical, but she IS a moron.

Anyway yes....so she saved up her benefits for Christmas. And?

pictish · 07/12/2011 09:52

Why do the article? Because she got paid, and obviously doesn't give a fuck what people think.
No doubt a portion of it will be owing to artistic licence as well.

maypole1 · 07/12/2011 09:59

pictish do they approach the sun or do the sun go looking for them?

MissMogwi · 07/12/2011 10:23

I don't think she should be ashamed of being on benefits maypole. So what if the whole community know she gets them? Lots of people in different circumstances end up on benefits, sometimes for a short time and sometimes for longer. When my ex left me, I ended up on benefits for a short time as I could no longer do my evening job. I'm not ashamed of that at all.

The Sun will have twisted and shaped her words to suit the angle they want to project, like all the media be it papers or the t.v what you see isn't necessarily the truth.

TotemPole · 07/12/2011 11:10

And not remorseful for having children on whilst knowing you have no money

She had the 3 children within a relationship. It doesn't mention what their financial situation was or what the father's contribution is now.

FellatioNelson · 07/12/2011 11:17

Oh good, a flat screen telly mentioned in the first sentence. Benefits Bingo.

callmemrs · 07/12/2011 11:18

She should feel bloody ashamed of herself for selling her childrens identity to the sun newspaper and making a total idiot of herself if nothing else

NinkyNonker · 07/12/2011 11:19

It is so familiar they may as well have dragged out last year's version and changed the names.

Hardly news either.

LetmethinkNO · 07/12/2011 11:21

The Sun really is hateful.

She would probably have been approached- either via a friend or even a flyer locally.

I'm struggling to remember the details, but I remember I was once contacted and asked if I knew in a particular situation. When it became apparent I didn't have a negative outlook on the situation I was dropped like a hot potato.
