Is this a grim habit or am I precious? <tmi warning>

DP has a skin condition which means that he gets really bad dry skin and flakes of it fall off everywhere. In general.... We just brush down the bed every morning and vac regularly.

But one thing really grosses me out - when he goes for a pee, he scratches and this means that dry skin from, ahem, particular areas falls off and gets on the floor. It forms this little gritty sheen on the laminate flooring around the loo. I am so frickin' tired of stepping in it and getting it all over my stockinged feet in the mornings before work or when I get up in the night. Blech.

DP says I am picking on him for a medical condition he can't help. I say if you are going to leave crotchflakes on the floor you should clean them up after.

AIBU? Does your DP have a similarly gross problem that you just live with? Confused

YANBU to mind treading on your DH's crotchflakes

YABU to use the term crotchflakes so soon after I have eaten my cornflakes [mindbleach]

I recommend a handheld hoover for the purpose.

HarryHillatemygoldfish · 15/11/2011 08:59

Er, that is utterly gross. He should clean it up exactly the same as if he had pissed on the floor.
No, my DH does not have a gross habit because I would not tolerate it and neither should you!

RevoltingPeasant · 15/11/2011 09:00

Yes but whose responsibility - his or mine???

OP posts:
Lucyinthepie · 15/11/2011 09:00

Put some toilet cleaning wipes in the loo and ask him to wipe round when he's finished. He's being a dirty sod not to clear up after himself.
(boak!)

RalphGnu · 15/11/2011 09:00

Grin at 'crotchflakes'

YANBU, of course he should deal with his own flakes. DP used to have terrible eczema...I know how you feel

DP likes to use cotton buds to clean out his ears and then leaves them lying around. It absolutely revolts me. I found DS about to put one in his mouth the other day and that was the last straw. I was furious.

DamselInDisarray · 15/11/2011 09:01

His. Obviously.

KissMyA · 15/11/2011 09:02

Wear slippers?

SirSugar · 15/11/2011 09:39

O M G ; he needs to clean up his own effluvium!

As a side order here, my H had a big toenail which had some condition and it used to fall off every few years. After H passed away, I was going through his stuff and found an envelope marked 'TOENAIL', just like that in big capital letters. Don't think I need to elaborate on contents of said envelope Shock Shock Shock

WhoWhoWhoWho · 15/11/2011 09:42

OMG that is gross.

" We brush down the bed" - why doesn't HE do it? He should be cleaning up after himself, including around the toilet/toilet floor.

Holds out hand for share of mindbleach.

LottieJenkins · 15/11/2011 09:44

I have just eaten my breakfast and wish i hadnt read this thread! [boak]

SirSugar · 15/11/2011 09:46

Jeff Goldblum in The Fly springs to mind

valiumredhead · 15/11/2011 09:46

Oh grimmer than a grim thing on a grim day in Grimmsville. YANBU.

EricNorthmansMistress · 15/11/2011 09:50

Why would it be your responsibility? He needs to get a brush and dustpan to keep in there and sweep it up every time it happens!

Bourbonchops · 15/11/2011 09:53

Of course it's his job.
You wouldn't expect him to assist you with tidying up 'wimmins things' if you decided to discard them around the bathroom out of laziness, would you?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/11/2011 09:53

Bleugh disgusting. He needs to clear up his own skin!

GobblersKnob · 15/11/2011 09:56

I am obviously odd as it wouldn't bother me at all.

I do the bathroom floor everyday anyway and it would just get cleaned up then.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/11/2011 09:57

KissMyA - wearing slippers would just mean that the OP was treading crotchflakes all round the house - not a good outcome, imo.

RevoltingPeasant - I think you might have to namechange to Peasantwithrevoltingdh - that is absolutely foul and he should clean up after him.

dementedma · 15/11/2011 09:57

Pissing myself laughing at Crotchflakes..Grin. What a great word and what a revolting image!!

TroublesomeEx · 15/11/2011 09:58

Grim. My DH splats blobs of shaving foam and stubble all over the bathroom.

He has a visual impairment that he claims means he can't see it Hmm. Same visual impairment doesn't stop him from noticing when I haven't hoovered though! Angry

PorkChopSter · 15/11/2011 10:00

You should buy a hand held hoover or two. Keep one in the bathroom.

TheProvincialLady · 15/11/2011 10:05

If he left poo on the seat and wee on the floor, whose job (no pun intended) would it be to clean it up? This is just the same and your DP is being absolutely revolting and disrespectful.

TopazMortmain · 15/11/2011 10:10

Ew.

featherbag · 15/11/2011 10:13

To use a colloquialism, that is minging!

HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 15/11/2011 10:15

eewwwwww!!

his responsibility totally!!

porkchopster he should buy a handheld vacuum. OP isn't creating the mess.

Eglu · 15/11/2011 10:17

Glad I'm not the only one with a DH like this. My dh has bad excema and his feet are very bad atm. He sits in the living room and scratches causing chunks of skin to fall on the floor. He was also using the poor me and my ailment line.

I finally got sick of this and told him he was showing a lack of respect to the rest of the family. Our children play on that floor. He has improved massively.
