Soft boiled egg

AIBU for being annoyed that I have just spent a weekend with friends who couldn't for the life of them make me a soft boiled egg for breakfast. One day it wa hard boiled, the next raw.
They argued that it was something that was hard to get right.

Outrageous. I hope you have told these so-called friends to fuck off to the far side of fuck then fuck off some more???! I am FURIOUS on your behalf.

SarahStratton · 14/11/2011 12:26

Egg snot

DeWe · 14/11/2011 12:27

I had a friend who managed as a student to manage to hard boil half an egg and have the other half remain raw. Now that takes some doing. Grin

RightUpMyRue · 14/11/2011 12:27

Wankers.

Pascha · 14/11/2011 12:27

Mmm Soldiers...

ElderberrySyrup · 14/11/2011 12:28

Next time do what Price Charles does (allegedly) and get them to make you three, all with slightly different timings, so the chances are one will be ok. Smile

MeconiumHappens · 14/11/2011 12:28

Disgusting.

MissPenteuth · 14/11/2011 12:29

YABU to be annoyed when your friends have just (I'm assuming) put you up for the weekend and made you breakfast. I might be a bit Hmm that they couldn't figure out how to soft-boil an egg, and I'd at being served a raw egg for sure, but I think being annoyed is a step too far. They're your friends, not your personal chefs!

valiumredhead · 14/11/2011 12:29

Here's a thought - make it yourself next time! Grin

MissPenteuth · 14/11/2011 12:29

Boat? I would not boat. I would .

ElderberrySyrup · 14/11/2011 12:30

oh hang on a min. Prince Charles doesn't get them to make three, he gets them to make seven. Shock

mrsruffallo · 14/11/2011 12:30

It doen't say much for their culinary prowess does it?
Is that true re PC? I wouldn't blame him. DC and I were quite confused.

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 14/11/2011 12:31

Oh, he see he denies it and claims it's totally untrue.

I'm with Proud&Scary on this one, and have written to my MP to complain about the level of food production on offer when visiting friends in this country.

I have requested, and am waiting for confirmation, that they will be court martialled immediately and shot, as a message to all the craparse "hosts and hostesses" who have the cheek to try and provide a cooked breakfast for their friends who are living off their generosity for the weekend. Bastards.

ElderberrySyrup · 14/11/2011 12:33

It must be true, it's in the Daily Mail and they never make anything up, ever.

mrsruffallo · 14/11/2011 12:34

It's the done thing to make your guests breakfast isn't it?
They managed to mess up DH's egg white omlette too.

I may buy them Delia's book for Christmas!
Seriously, does anyone on her find it difficult to make a hot, runny, soft boiled egg?

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 14/11/2011 12:36

Of course, Elderberrry. I am sure the truth will out.

MissPenteuth · 14/11/2011 12:40

Actually, I always make my egss hard-boiled so I wouldn't know off the top of my head how long to cook a soft-boiled egg. I'd guess 6 mins or so?

mrsruffallo · 14/11/2011 12:42

No, no more than 4.

Pinner35 · 14/11/2011 12:45

this guide is foolproof

DamselInDisarray · 14/11/2011 12:52

If you stay at mine, there'd be none of this soft boiled eggs for some people and egg white omelettes for others. Everyone gets the same (cooked) breakfast or they can help themselves to cereal. It is not a restaurant.

betterwhenthesunshines · 14/11/2011 12:52

Oh dear - I hope you're not expecting another invitation to be their house guest again anytime soon.

thefurryone · 14/11/2011 12:54

I have an egg boiler which means my eggs are always perfect. Perhaps you could take one with you as a thank you for having us gift next time you visit.

comedycentral · 14/11/2011 13:13

This makes Christmas present buying much easier, you can buy them egg timers! :)

MissPenteuth · 14/11/2011 13:16

See, I was way off. Good thing I never have to make breakfast for you mrsruffallo Wink
