to have a bright orange bathroom?

DH is going away early early tomorrow morning and isn't coming back till thursday. He asked if I had plans, not really...but

Our bathrooms needs seeing to. and we haven't got around to it.

It just needs some paint, retiling etc nothing big.

So that is what I am going to do Sunday and Monday then I can finish little bits after work on Tuesday and wednesday If i need (I am pg so i'm not exactly fast)

So I went to our shed to see if we had any tiles left over - we do, some white ones great.

But then I also happened across one of my boxes from uni with odd bits in - little storage boxes, soap dishes etc and they are all orange (there must have been a sale on them when I got them)

I like orange. I use to have a yellow bedroom.

I feel orange is a good colour for a bathroom - it does have a fair amount of light.

AIBU to go down to B&Q tomorrow and buy some bright orange paint and have a orange bathroom?

Then I could even see if they have some orange tiles or transfers to put on the tiles and any more orange coloured things - I could even go to home sense and see

AIBU?

I absolutely adore orange. So no, yanbu.

AlfalfaMum · 05/11/2011 23:34

they have really nice orange towels in Ikea. Do it.

Seabright · 05/11/2011 23:35

Sound like it might be a bit 1970's. And not in a good way.

Mind you, given free choice, I'd paint the whole house yellow

CarrieInAnotherBabi · 05/11/2011 23:35

not at all, ggo for it

ThoseClementineShoes · 05/11/2011 23:36

Our bathroom was orange when we moved in. It made doing my makeup a bit challenging to say the least. YABU!

squeakytoy · 05/11/2011 23:36

Sounds a bit too "easy jet" to me Grin

MrsPeterDoherty · 05/11/2011 23:37

Orange is good, my hall is orange and looks fab

said · 05/11/2011 23:37

oh, definitely do it! I absolute hate the colour orange but it's not my house and I love the idea of vibrant colours.

ViviPru · 05/11/2011 23:48

why not go the whole hog?

iscream · 05/11/2011 23:50

I love orange, but not really bright. However, it is your bathroom and if you love bright you should do it. I just did an "orange bathroom" image search on google and there are some very nice orange bathrooms.

pepperpeterspotspooed · 05/11/2011 23:52

Yay! thank you i didn't want to do something crazy. maybe a littel easyjet but I could spray paint the tiles green to counteract (but that may be a bit far - I'll see in the morning) Our Kitchen is 70s I actually like it - DH doesn't wants to take a sledge hammer to it (read wants me to take a sledge hammer to it)

alfalfa I love the towels going to add ikea to the list of shops (ohh i may even go for breakfast - this is shapping up to be an exciting sunday)

DPs done one this weekend with the good car and the crap car won't start. I'm gagging for a Swedish homeware fix. Taaaaaaake Meeeeeeee!

ChocolateTeacup · 06/11/2011 00:01

Does your DP's opinion not factor in at all? If not then why not

pepperpeterspotspooed · 06/11/2011 00:05

vivi we go early only 99p for a fry up and we get free tea or coffee - I love the swedes.

chocolate he'll just say lets have it white - I'm fedup of white it is so typical and normal. plus he leaves DIY to me (silly posh boy had never changed a plug till he met me) so I like to think I have deciding vote on DIY projects Wink

My friend had an orange bathroom, it looked lovely...till I stayed there and actually tried to have a nice long bath in it, dear god, my eyes, rofl

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 06/11/2011 00:12

You can have orange accents in a room without it having to actually be orange you know.

ViviPru · 06/11/2011 00:17

99p fry up? How early is "early"?

My frugal friend bought his kitchen over a week's worth of individual daily trips to Ikea when they had a free-dinner-when-you-spend-over-x-amount offer on. Not before calculating that the amount they'd be spending on diesel was less than the cost of feeding themselves for a week :)

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 06/11/2011 00:17

YANBU with one wall in orange tiles

For example, the bathrooms bit in this.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 06/11/2011 00:19

And having white alongside the orange actually makes it look more orange and brighter IYSWIM.

gofrotoes · 06/11/2011 00:33

I hate to break it to you and OP vivi but ikea don't do 99p breakie on the weekend only weekdays (they stop serving at 11) think its about 2.50 normally.

I like the idea of orange bathroom much better than our blue one :(

ViviPru · 06/11/2011 00:34

drat

SacreLao · 06/11/2011 00:49

I think it sounds nice, but then again my bathroom is hot pink so who am I to judge on colour choices!

mumeeee · 06/11/2011 00:54

YABU, A bright orange bathroom would make my eyes hurt. What does your DH think?

itsalladirtylie · 06/11/2011 01:41

I love orange, but I wouldnt want it too bright if it was the whole room!

ZeldaUpNorth · 06/11/2011 07:38

I like the last 2 mildly linked to. My bathroom is a light grey with yellow accessories. (i think its nice anyway)
