to think more people should START more threads

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:13

There are loads of thread joiners but not many starters.

I think MN would be more vibrant if people stuck their necks out and started more threads. Just saying...

except for me...i shouldnt start threads...because they get deleted....which is fair enough....Im just saying horses for courses.

AgentZigzag · 29/10/2011 01:20

I'd only get a flaming with the problems I have to pick from to post about Grin

RowenaRavenclaw · 29/10/2011 01:22

I don't like starting things I can't finish [hgrin]

PandorasSocks · 29/10/2011 01:23

I'm too scared Blush

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:25

I'm just thinking that the more threads that get started, the more interesting the discussion will be. There are LOADS of thread CONTRIBUTORS I enjoy reading, but many of them rarely start threads and I'm sure they'd have excellent ideas for discussion.

Ok I'll start one in Xmas, but it's dull!

worraliberty · 29/10/2011 01:29

but I've never been unreasonable in my whole life

AIBU to say that? Grin

RowenaRavenclaw · 29/10/2011 01:29

The AIBU really scares me silly. It's a public flagellation.

PandorasSocks · 29/10/2011 01:31

I'm so used to be told IABU by DH that I don't really need to ask.

Might pluck up the courage to be a threadstarter in chat or somesuch.

PandorasSocks · 29/10/2011 01:32

being told

(damn you, vodka)

Tortington · 29/10/2011 01:33

aibu to think aibu is just full of bottle necking jeremy kyle watching, primark wearing low life scum bottom feeding shit for brains? in general present company (me only) excepted

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:35

Surely you must be bored of parent/toddler parking by now.. You seem like an interesting bunch of women. Go on! Stick your necks out!

TalcAndTurnips · 29/10/2011 01:36

Pah - tried a few and got ignored mostly Sad

Only Mardy enjoyed playing table tennis with Professor Heinz Wolff SadSadSad

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:36

custy. It doesn't have to be Aibu. My fav threads are chat trivia type things.

OP posts:
worraliberty · 29/10/2011 01:37

Go on then Mardy you first

Start an interesting thread and we'll follow suit Grin

RowenaRavenclaw · 29/10/2011 01:38

Aren't all threadstarters some sort of attention seekers anyway?

giraffesCantDookForApples · 29/10/2011 01:38

I started one and now its in discussions of the day - I am famous!

AGlassHalfEmptyNoLonger · 29/10/2011 01:38

Am very tempted to start one but am not yet because a)it is gonna be extremely inflammatory and Im not going to be about much over the next 36 hours, and b) it links into a comment made on another thread and I don't feel it is fair to start something that could be linked to the subject at the moment. However, I will start it in time, and I will wait and see how long it takes to get pulled (because as valid a subject I feel it is to talk about, I can almost guarantee people will turn it into a bun fight which will end up getting pulled - unfortunately. It is a subject that is hidden, people are disgusted by and frightened about when they have little or no need to be, and I think a discussion could open it up a bit, but I don't think it will last :( I will give it a go though).

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:39

Talc. I'm still sulking because our epic anagrams didn't make classics. Can you do anything with the thread title?

OP posts:
giraffesCantDookForApples · 29/10/2011 01:39

I also started one about my vaginal output but that hasn't got quite such a positive response

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:41

worra. Not sure if you are suggesting that I
a) don't start threads
b) don't start interesting threads

OP posts:
PandorasSocks · 29/10/2011 01:41

My trouble is that I don't take much seriously, so don't trust myself to post a genuine threadstarter.

I'm more of a pisstaker.

I'd end up pissing off lots of MN-ers and being the originator of lots of knicker-twisting.

worraliberty · 29/10/2011 01:42

No I'm suggesting you start an interesting thread to show us how it's done Grin

Mardymwahhaha · 29/10/2011 01:45

Congratulations giraffes. I've only made Discussion of the Day once and never Classics although not really bitter

OP posts:
MrsBloodyTroll · 29/10/2011 01:47

Having started a couple of AIBU threads in the past and been shot down in flames (latest one I was told that starting a "light-hearted" thread on AIBU was the wrong thing to do Hmm) I think once, twice, three, four, five, six times before starting one.

It's very rare that I start a thread on whim, unless it's something time-critical. Otherwise it'll be something I've been mulling over for a while, for fear of being take to pieces, or being accused of being a troll. I have low enough self-esteem as it is without subjecting myself to more knocks on here!
