to grow a beard?

I haven't plucked the ol chin for a week now in sort of anticipation of possibly making a doctors appointment to ask if it is normal for a woman to have quite such a luxuriant beard.

Problem is I haven't got around to making said appointment because I am a wimp and a bit Dr-Phobic.

So chin hair is now sprouting gloriously.

DO I

a. just grow a big beard (like ZZ Top)

b. Pluck it

c. live with spiky growth, man up and make a sodding appointment?

If c. I won't be able to leave the house for the next week.

Gross, wax it.

Kayano · 21/10/2011 22:16

The answer entirely depends on you DP. What do they think in the intimate moments? Wink

GrimmaTheNome · 21/10/2011 22:17

How about you take some good photos, pluck it and then see the doctor, taking the evidence with you. (take the hairs too if they're really luxuriant)

Pagwatch · 21/10/2011 22:19

Oh go with it.
Live the dream

I keep trying but I wimp out.

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:19

but i suspect the doc won't believe me if i have removed it.

shall i count the hairs and you can judge what is best to do?

rockboobs · 21/10/2011 22:19

have you checked your palms?

lydiamama · 21/10/2011 22:20

C, definitively c

ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 22:22

How many chin hairs are normal at what age? Why, when there are statistics about stuff you don't give a shit about, aren't there statistics about chin hairs and specific ages.

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:24

I am 37.

There are 30+ visible pluckable hairs sprouting from my chin.

Interestingly more on the left side than the right.

My moustache needs attention.

Shall I count the nipple hair too?

Go to the Docs

I think it's one of the symptoms of PCO isn't it?

It is for my friend anyway amongst other things so perhaps best to get it checked now you've grown it.

ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 22:26

Mine are most luxurious at the sides of my chin, go straight down from the outer corners of my lips until you hit my jawbone (poke your fingers through the excess lady chins to find jawbone). Trillions. I wish it were only 30. I'm 39.

thenightsky · 21/10/2011 22:29

it's age... get thee to our lovely Crepes threads on S&B.

AuraofDora · 21/10/2011 22:30

hairyness does come with pco
take photos pluck and go to the docs with the evidence

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 22:31

When does this HAPPEN? I am reading lots of posts on MN lately about chin hair - at what age does this gem kick in?

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:32

fucking age????? i'm bloody 37 not 57. you'd think i had 20 more years of being youthful and hairless before turning into a bearded llaydee.

see that's what the fucking useless bloody GP will say. I know they will.

OP posts:
ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 22:34

GetOrf that is the ultimate stealth boast. Cow. Young cow. Young hairless cow.

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 22:34

To match my Brian Blessed Beard,I also have to looong ones...one on either side of my face.
I look like one of those ugly spiky fish [hhmm]

worraliberty · 21/10/2011 22:34

Oooh good idea about the photos

Or a mobile phone video?

juneybean · 21/10/2011 22:35

-strokes beard- I'm only 26... I could be cousin IT by the time I'm 37

ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 22:36

Yes, take a video of it, if the doctor doesn't give a shit at least you could submit for next years Turner Prize.

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 22:38

lol at the video - bloody hell!

That can't be right surely at 37 - there must be some hormonal gubbins going on.

How do you get rid of them - you can't pluck all of those, it would be eye watering.

NorksAreMessy · 21/10/2011 22:42

Nope, they just happen to us all.
I spend five minutes a day plucking, and they just boing back

ZZtop look could be good

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:43

i pluck bit by bit. usually in the car (good light). not normally all at the same time.

hormones have always been a bit wrong.

massively painful periods.

cripplingly painful ovulation.

fatness (although that might be my cheese habit)

and hair like a hairy man.

and zits. just about grown out of teenage acne by age 34.

it's all wrong isn't it?

MooncupGoddess · 21/10/2011 22:44

I'd go for a neat goatee - much more classy than Brian Blessed style, and reduces the time spent on maintenance.

GetOrf -when I was a child my mother seems to spend AGES plucking her chin. She told me she had started growing chin hair at 29 and the same would probably happen to me. SHE WAS RIGHT.

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 22:45

...don't forget the Incredible Hulk moments in that list [hwink]
