to grow a beard?

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:15

I haven't plucked the ol chin for a week now in sort of anticipation of possibly making a doctors appointment to ask if it is normal for a woman to have quite such a luxuriant beard.

Problem is I haven't got around to making said appointment because I am a wimp and a bit Dr-Phobic.

So chin hair is now sprouting gloriously.

DO I

a. just grow a big beard (like ZZ Top)

b. Pluck it

c. live with spiky growth, man up and make a sodding appointment?

If c. I won't be able to leave the house for the next week.

ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 22:48

You pluck in the car?

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 22:48

That sounds awful AYC. I really would go and have that lot checked out, it sounds awfully like the symptoms for PCOS.

I have just turned the lamp up and peered closely in a mirror, checking for hairs. None there yet

Joolyjoolyjoo · 21/10/2011 22:49

OMG- I thought it was normal to have to pluck the "cod hairs" (as DH calls them)

I have noticed more and more hairs since having the dc, had a brief period of electrolysis, now wax (or pluck- in the car when DH is driving- you are right about the light! Must make me sooo attractive Blush)
Will be watching with (hairy-chinned) interest

ZombiesAteYourCervix · 21/10/2011 22:51

good car light and a scary razorman mirror and tweezers - the perfect plucking tools Grin

Must stop whinging and do something about it.

Car light is good - I usually put my make up on at red lights.

Don't make her angry...you won't like it when she's angry.

ColdSancerre · 21/10/2011 23:05

I'm hairy, am 39 and various scans of ovaries and blood tests to check hormones would indicate I don't have pcos. Hairy does not equal pcos, sometimes it's just because you're hairy.

thenightsky · 21/10/2011 23:07

get a tweezerman 10x mirror in boots.

TheVampireEmpusa · 21/10/2011 23:10

"at what age does this gem kick in?"

In my case, the grand old age of 27!

I've lost my bloody tweezers too!!

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 23:12

What happens if you shave 'em, like a bloke.

crazynannawitchbitch · 21/10/2011 23:14

Tried shaving them once. Nearly ripped my baby grandson's face off when kissing him. Nuff said.

Hairy arms i've got a problem with but a hairy chin hasn't hit me yet.

But i've got time yet :)

Loolah · 21/10/2011 23:29

I'm 32 and have always been hairy since about 13 ish, it has gradually got worse over the years especially since having 2 DC's. I think I am just a hairy person. I regularly have my lip and chin waxed, also i have some dark hairs on my upper cheek bones just below the corners of my eyes and have to pluck those occasionally.

eurochick · 22/10/2011 09:25

I've had some facial hair since the grand old age of 17. PCOS was to blame. I also had spots, irregular, heavy and very painful periods and my blood sugar was all over the place.

eurochick · 22/10/2011 09:27

BTW, if you can afford it, laser hair removal is your friend. It works best if there is a big contrast between skin colour and hair colour.
