AIBU to not want a workman to poo in my toilet?

Earlier today I was having my boiler serviced and two men came to do it.

The older man said 'can I use your toilet' , I said 'yes of course' and directed him to the bathroom. Thinking he just needed to pass water

But he had a poo in it! He was in there a good 10 minutes and has colleague was looking embarressed as we chatted.

It stank ! Really stank ...why do people think it's ok to poo in someone elses house

Would it be unreasonable to refuse workmen toilet access in future [hshock]

I'm using the term workmen because I don't know what else to call them

Also, if he was in there so long because he was having a pooh AND a wank, that means there are particles of pooh and something else in the air. And on the flush!!

gabid · 14/10/2011 14:27

Of course, you leave the place clean and open the window if it was a poo. But someone who services a boilder goes from house to house all day I would imagine, and I cannot time my poos, so well done to those who can!

ScarlettIsWalking · 14/10/2011 14:30

This is why I say no now when tradesman ask to use my toilet.

I had a delivery man do the same - he didn't HAVE to shit in my toilet he could have waited. I am not some kind of public convenience.

Still angers me now...

MrBloomsNursery · 14/10/2011 14:30

onepieceofcremeegg I find that distracting myself from thinking about a poo stops me from going as I forget. My bowels are programmed that way. I get constipation when I go on holiday because I can't poo in a strange toilet.

purplegirlie It HAS scarred me for life!! My driving instructor used to ask to use my toilet after EVERY SINGLE lesson. She was a woman, but still....I had a fear of learning how to drive until I was about 23, incase my instructors would ask to use my loo again.

OP - may I recommend the Dettol antiseptic spray. You just spray it on surfaces and it kills germs, and it smells nice too Grin.

PinotScreechio · 14/10/2011 14:32

Op

I'd rather he poo'd in your loo than mine.

HTH.

LetThereBeRock · 14/10/2011 14:32

If you're all so paranoid about bacteria, how do you manage to go out in public without a Hazmat suit?

Hullygully · 14/10/2011 14:33

poo poo glorious poo

how many more poos today?

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/10/2011 14:35

MrB I can't distract myself for 11 or 12 hours. :)

Also I work in a very stressful job so I wouldn't want to be on the brink of needing a poo as it were, and then if something stressful happens, well...

CreamolaFoamless · 14/10/2011 14:35

YABU and a snob into the bargain. Get over yourself. Andrew you think I'm a snob because I don't want a random guy shitting in my toilet and leaving a smell?

Well then I'm a snob. I don't shit in anyones elses toilet so why should they shit in mine [hgrin]

minimisschief · 14/10/2011 14:36

why are strangers poo particles more disgusting than your familys poo particles you inhale every day

and you are aware if you have a poo particle fear you probably should breathe through some sort of sterile oxygen mask 24/7 especially outside.

Pagwatch · 14/10/2011 14:36

A plumber was working on my broken boiler just before Christmas a few years ago. He clearly wasn't well and kept using the ground floor toilet. We just set up a contamination zone avoided using it for the two days he was there.
When he left I went in there to bolt the window open and pour bleach around everything freshen it up a little only to find everything he had eaten swirling around in a festering brown swamp.

He had blocked the toilet and not told me. Yet he had continued to flush to keep the appearances up that nothing was wrong.

Let us not forget he was a plumber.

I gave him a fucking tip too.

KatieMortician · 14/10/2011 14:36

Those of you who know your tradespeople don't actually need to do a poo and could wait, I think you'd have less issue if you didn't follow them into the loo.

I am assuming you do go in to be so offended and know so much about each individual poop.

Andrewofgg · 14/10/2011 14:38

No Creamola you're a snob because it matters to you that he was a workman.

gabid · 14/10/2011 14:38

Oh, I think I need to poo now, and thank god I am at home to use my own toilet, and I am glad I don't need to ask any of you funny people to use your bathroom. Grin

spiderpig8 · 14/10/2011 14:38

This has GOT to be a windup !!!
So would you rather pay you for an extra half hour while he pops home for a dump?

It was

Git.

When I told his boss he came and cleared it which was kind of him

EricNorthmansMistress · 14/10/2011 14:43

YABU but I completely get it. I am grossed out by poo and cannot bear evidence of people pooing. I can just about tolerate DH and DS pooing in my toilet and anyone else as long as I do not encounter evidence - I don't want pebble dashing or smells thank you very much.

But the guy is at work. It would be completely unreasonable to prevent someone from pooing at work whatever their job is, and you employ someone to work in your home - they need access to your toilet. So YABU - but I sympathise.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 14/10/2011 14:44

YANBU to not want ,him to do it, but, YABU to expect him to be able to wait. I'm lucky and I do go to the loo for that within 20 mins of waking without fail, then I don't go until the next morning. But some people can't do that and if he's in your house all day, it's going to be tricky. Anyway, the alternative would be him holding on and filling your house with noxious gas as he struggled to contain the trumps! Still gross, though.
Pagwatch your post made me retch a little.

ZZZenAgain · 14/10/2011 14:46

huh? Someone is in your house and needs to go to the toilet. I really cannot see the big deal in this, this is what a loo is for.
