AIBU to not want a workman to poo in my toilet?

Earlier today I was having my boiler serviced and two men came to do it.

The older man said 'can I use your toilet' , I said 'yes of course' and directed him to the bathroom. Thinking he just needed to pass water

But he had a poo in it! He was in there a good 10 minutes and has colleague was looking embarressed as we chatted.

It stank ! Really stank ...why do people think it's ok to poo in someone elses house

Would it be unreasonable to refuse workmen toilet access in future [hshock]

I'm using the term workmen because I don't know what else to call them

and by the way LMS I always wait, after flushing, look behind and double flush- even in public loos.

and not all homes have loo brushes- we dont- filthy things.

I don't have a loo brush either but from the threads I have seen on here, a good number of people do. I have seen them in my friends houses too.

Possibly what is happening in my house when workmen have been is that they flush and don't bother checking. Hmm
I suppose if the poo hasn't flushed away first time, it would appear to me that they haven't flushed when they may have done, but they just didn't check the loo after flushing. Hmm

I always check and so do other members of my family, so I am used to it. Maybe some people don't.

oh God, you are getting boring LMS.

In my loos at home I have a bottle of bleach next to all 3 loos.

I do not expect guests who are strangers to pour bleach down. I don't keep cleaning materials on show as they are untidy.

I also have a key beside the window for the lock,in the down stairs loo but again, I would not presume that a strnager would open the window as they would possibly regard this as bad manners, unless they asked first.

I really don't care as much as you seem to.

yes it is unpleasant seeing another persons poo inthe loo- or rather ths skid marks- but hey, that's life.

I would expect them to double flush, and maybe apologise when they came out saying sorry the loo needed a clean and they would do it etc- but we are all so anal about things like this in the UK that most people don't talk about it.

I did answer your question- i said i'd flush twice and the same would apply to me as anyone- I might apologise but it would depend on whose house I was in and whether i would ever see them again.

Why would it depend on whether you'd ever see them again? (I'm assuming the workmen didn't have any reason to believe they'd see me again.)

We need some kind of poo camp where folk have to face their poo fears. I like the idea the Romans had. The public loos were benches with holes cut in them, everyone sat together, cheek to cheek, male and female so they could chat and a band played music in the corner - classy!

begon Gillian McKeith did this but on a smaller scale. Making people poo in a specific loo in her home; then they would hand it to her in a tupperware and she would show everyone on telly and discuss their poo!

btw David Walliams on telly now talking about the sewage in the Thames.

Please explain to me why it is right or even okay for ME to HAVE TO open the window and clean the sloppy skids from the toilet bowl after a WORKMAN has used the toilet?

Surely the point is that it should be up to the WORKMAN to leave my bathroom as he found it if it is within his power to do so??

I don't go round leaving excrement in other people's houses and just expect them to clean it up after me, much like I don't spill coffee on a friend's carpet then just sit there with an inane grin on my face. I don't go round expecting other people to clean up after me or my DC...so I don't see why anyone else expects me to clean up their shit from my toilet. It's common decency imo.

Forehead I have never said I do not allow workmen to shit in my toilet.

For the last time, What I am saying is:

EVERYONE NEEDS TO USE THE TOILET. IT IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT TO USE A TOILET. WHAT I CONSIDER COMMON DECENCY IS TO AT LEAST ATTEMPT TO LEAVE A TOILET, WHEREVER IT MAY BE, IN THE STATE WHICH YOU FOUND IT IN. IT MIGHT ALSO BE A GOOD IDEA TO OPEN A WINDOW AND CLOSE THE BATHROOM DOOR BEHIND YOU IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I WOULD NOT HAVE ISSUE WITH ANYONE USING MY TOILET WHILE THEY WERE IN MY HOUSE IF THEY JUST LEFT IT HOW THEY FOUND IT AFTERWARDS...OR EVEN ATTEMPTED TO DO SO. I DO NOT THINK PEOPLE WHO INVITE ME INTO THEIR HOMES SHOULD BE HAPPY TO CLEAN MY EXCREMENT FROM THEIR TOILET IF THE MEANS ARE THERE TO CLEAN IT MYSELF

I HAVE NEVER REFUSED THE USE OF MY TOILET TO ANYONE IN MY HOUSE

If he doesn't it will be up to you. You can't really issue instructions or expect him to go at the bottom of your garden!

Of course you shouldn't hqve to cleans hteloo after anyone. And I bet 99% of the time you don't have to. Even after workmen. But occasionally you might have to. Mind you, I have never, in over 30 years of loo ownership, had to clean "sloppy skids" as you so charmingly put it, left by anyone but myself andnpeople under 10. Or had anyone come out of thenloo grinning and leaving the door open to spread the smell round the house. You must be very unluckynin your friends.

seeker I have only ever had workmen do this. Sad I would never begrudge anyone the use of my toilet though....that's just cruel and unnecessary imo.

I rather wish that I had done as yesterday-seen the title and scrolled on by! I expect it will rumble on all day tomorrow. All pointless-I don't see how you can deny a workman the use of your toilet if you are not providing an alternative.
I am definitely coming to the conclusion that some people would use different cups too!

YANBU a gas man did that in my toilet once and left skid marks all over the toilet and i had to clean it i was not impressed, but you can not deny access to your toilet so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed the future toilet users only do number 1s lol x
