To think I can wear leather trousers?

I asked this on Style and Beauty but not one reply.

They look like this:

I got them today and they fit great but at 39 yo, will I look like mutton? Will other women laugh at me?

What are you going to wear them with?

I quite like the look of a leathered leg, but probably better if you are tall and slim.

Proudnreallyveryscary · 13/10/2011 22:11

No-one should wear leather trousers, regardless of age, size or looks.

Kate Moss looks shit in leather trousers.

Think on't.

LydiaWickham · 13/10/2011 22:12

No you can't, not in your 30s. It's just too late to avoid the mutton tag.

OtterBjitch · 13/10/2011 22:17

Bjollocks to 'not in your 30s'. If you like them and feel good, wear them. I would dress them down with slouchy expensive-looking knits.

Aren't they very, very warm though?

Pan · 13/10/2011 22:19

Bjollocks to 'not in your 30's' - friend of mine is 40 - she is a hottie in them.

Byeckersliiiiiiiiiiiiiike · 13/10/2011 22:22

I like them, not keen on he shoes they have put them with but not sure what my alternative would be?

I am 30 and would wear them if my arse wasnt so rotund

OtterBjitch · 13/10/2011 22:28

A simple ankle boot would be my choice, Byeckers.

squeakytoy · 13/10/2011 22:29

I wear mine.. I am 42 and I know they look ok on me.. I usually wear stilletto biker ankle boots with mine.

MurderBloodstabsandgore · 13/10/2011 22:37

I miss my pvc ones (pleasingly shiny, a bitch to get off after an evening's dancing). I am now 32, no longer a goth and very very tempted by those ones.

dressing it down like otter says I did typo ooter, that's probably someone else and a biker boot.

One day I'll have some money.

lechildrenofthecornsilk · 13/10/2011 22:38

you will be needing this

GreenEyesandNiceHam · 13/10/2011 22:39

She wouldn't stop a pig in a ginnel would she

LeBOOOf · 13/10/2011 22:40

Just don't mix talc with lotion- it makes PASTE Grin

HowlingWereWolfBitch · 13/10/2011 22:44

Of course you bloody can and those boots would be lovely with them.

Get them if they will make you happy!

TethHearseEnd · 13/10/2011 22:46

Leather trousers are great- but not those ones, they are too shiny.

upahill · 13/10/2011 22:46

I disagree with the statement not in your 30's I would go further and say not in your life time!

HowlingWereWolfBitch · 13/10/2011 22:47

(:o Love the name tether)

upahill · 13/10/2011 22:48

I have made a mistake.
Leather trousers can be worn. But only if they for protection on a motorbike.
Otherwise they are mad.

Madinitials · 13/10/2011 22:48

Cornsilk :o

Otter like your suggestions for top and boots.

Greeneyes just googled that and hoping for a chance to use that line soon!

Madinitials · 13/10/2011 23:06

Excellent, I'm going with the majority and unless a shedload of "no's" suddenly come in, I'm going to wear them. Crikey, I'm actually doing as I'm told for once.

Tether - the ones I got are not quite as shiny as the ones in the photo, I'll have to buff them up!

upahill · 13/10/2011 23:07

You will live to regret it!! Grin

Hardgoing · 13/10/2011 23:09

Why not? I lived in a pair of fake leather Joseph trousers in my late twenties, some of my best times.

You are only going to go around once in this life, so if you've always wanted a pair, get them. Mary Portas wears them (and whilst she is irritating, she has her own great style).

I would not personally wear them with very high heels though, I think the low heeled biker/chunkier boot suggestions are better.

Madinitials · 13/10/2011 23:13

Upahill - hope you don't live near me. Don't want you pointing and laughing!

Hard - I've got some suede shoe boots with a lowish (about 3 inch) heels (not stilleto) - too high/ladylike?

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 13/10/2011 23:14

Wear what you like!
I used to own leather trousers, but
A/ they used to creak unpleasantly, when I moved, and
B/ Someone called Greenpeace and tried to get me towed back out to sea! [hgrin]

upahill · 13/10/2011 23:16

I won't laugh I promise!
Leather trousers are something that I don't like along with Ugg boots, juicy couture tracksuits and stuff by Bench!

DumSpiroSpero · 13/10/2011 23:18

They are gorgeous! And if reach my target weight (which willi probably take me until I'm 39!) I will buy myself a pair and bugger what anyone else thinks.

Go for it! Grin
