I asked this on Style and Beauty but not one reply.

They look like this:

I got them today and they fit great but at 39 yo, will I look like mutton? Will other women laugh at me?

Man magnet, it says in the ad

Looks like a bony bird to me.

Sl1nkyMalinki · 13/10/2011 23:31

Wear them! I'm worse, I own leather shorts and I'm 31 [hgrin]

I couldn't give a jeff though. I feel fabulous in them and everyone who thinks otherwise is clearly jealous!

Madinitials · 14/10/2011 07:12

Thanks Slinky, though at 31 you are a mere slip of a girl.

I had leather shorts in my teens, though they were more pleather than leather.

They are quite shiny, but as long as you're not very short and you're slim, worn with a really lovely chunky knit and not stilleto heels you could look great. Don't wear them with a see through blouse and kneehigh boots.

valiumredhead · 14/10/2011 09:44

I disagree with the statement not in your 30's I would go further and say not in your life time!

YY Grin

valiumredhead · 14/10/2011 09:45

I also think anyone who has to ask probably shouldn't Wink

OTheHugeWerewolef · 14/10/2011 11:46

Well, if you don't mind people looking at you and thinking 'cougar', and as long as you don't wear them with anything leopard print then go for it Grin

diddl · 14/10/2011 11:57

Hope they´re nicer than the ones in the link-they look cheap & fake!

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 14/10/2011 11:58

Sorry it's been said already but "not in your thirties"?!?!?! WTF is that about? What should women in their 30s wear then? Beige slacks? Mint green skirt suits?

Wear 'em if you like OP. I tend to associate them with Bonnie Tyler, but there's nowt wrong with that Grin

PigletJohn · 14/10/2011 12:11

you should only wear them if you have more bum a more feminine figure than the model in the photo

upahill · 14/10/2011 12:27

Looking like bonnie tyler is enough of a reason not to buy them !

shadylane · 14/10/2011 13:06

Bonnie Tyler is hot. And big bums do NOT look good in leather, unless we're talking Rhianna's big bum

Madinitials · 14/10/2011 20:14

Werewolef - I could be considered a cougar as DH is significantly younger than me so I don't mind at all.

I'm 5ft 7 and a size 12 with a round bum, not huge though. Defo not thin like the model in the link.

Jenai - couldn't agree more. I would love someone to tell me what 30-something (well nearly 40 me) women should be wearing. It's not Jacques Vert from here on in, is it?

i've got an even bigger bum than rhianna whats your point shadylane, anyway OP as long as you feel great in them,go for it :-)

Spuddybean · 14/10/2011 20:26

As others say i think it depends on what you wear them with. I knew a woman in her 40's with great legs who wore them with ankle boots and a high neck jumper - they/she looked fab. I used to wear pvc trousers with the same combo too.

However, sadly, i do think your figure has something to do with your choice too. If you are short or have enormous boobs then probably not a good look, no matter what your age (i am tall and unfortunately have an a cup). Also the colour of the clothes you wear with it, so something the same colour looks good (so all you really notice is the change of texture - rather than throwing different colours/patterns/textures at the eye).

So black leather trousers and a cerise leopard print low top is probably out.

Also watch the accessories - some simple silver or gold or nothing at all.

Just in my opinion of course!

shadylane · 15/10/2011 09:50

my point is different figures suit different clothes, obviously!
