The River is named the Don (not the Donn ilove) Caster is of Roman origin and means "fort on the river" - Doncaster therefore meaning 'Fort on the river Don'
My Primary School headmaster would be so proud of me. He spent feckin' ages teaching us all that rubbish and after 33 years, it's finally come in handy.
