YANBU OP

All these poor little exhausted mites, stuck in childcare for - ooh, at least 12 hours a day - whilst their mother goes out to work through choice. Not only that, we're taking all the jobs from the men.

We need to get back into the home and develop interests and hobbies outside of the workplace work, because as we all know, if you need to work because you think you might be bored at home then you must be utterly lacking in imagination.

HeavyHeidi · 25/09/2011 17:59

and, and I read it in the paper that working mothers only manage to spend 1 hour and 20 mins per day with their children. the horror!
see, it's in the paper so must be true. here
whereas stay at home mothers who devote all their time to bringing up their kids by themselves, developing and nurturing them, and all this in 2 hours 30 minutes per day! the hour makes all the difference, obviously.

AnnieLobeseder · 25/09/2011 18:05

I have a theory that women shouldn't be trusted to raise their own children at all, because of course we all know that a Mother's Place is in the Wrong. We are wrong if we work and wrong if we stay at home and wrong if we are on benefits and wrong if we we earn our own money and wrong if we live on our DPs' money.

So, what I propose, is that raising children is handed over to the Men, who, as we all know, Can Do No Wrong, whether they are working or staying at home, though possibly not when on benefits. Everyone on benefits is Wrong.

Then, while the Men are busy working and raising the children, which will be easy for them cos they're Men, innit, we can all meet up somewhere and drink Brew or Wine, depending on the time of day!

Can someone explain to me the need for this thread?

AnnieLobeseder · 25/09/2011 18:18

Weeeeeeeell, SurprisEs, I would say the need for it is a little light entertainment and pisstaking to cheer everyone up after some of the less pleasant threads that have been running lately.

HeavyHeidi · 25/09/2011 18:20

this thread is 5 pages now, obviously there was a need.

addressbook · 25/09/2011 18:22

well I am a scrounger. My poor, poor dh.

I have no status because I actually like being at home with my kids, I mean that is dull, dull and dull isn't it? My brain is rotting and I am an abomination to feminism.

I mean that is why we pay other women minimal wage isn't it? Because who would want to spend their day with children, it is akin to slavery and it ruins your life. I am doomed I tell you.

And what the fuck do I do all day?

floosiemcwoosie · 25/09/2011 18:26

aw addressbook come with me, I have a masters in pissfarting and leeching

SurprisEs · 25/09/2011 18:28

Truth is that no matter what your decision is it will be frowned uppon. Saying that, I'm a SAHM at the moment (not through choice) and I'm affraid I've had more nasty comments made towards me than when I was working (3weeks ago).

addressbook · 25/09/2011 18:29

'pissfarting and leeching' Grin

goinginMitmoocircles · 25/09/2011 18:34

Annie great post.

heleninahandcart · 25/09/2011 18:38

See I believe being a mother is a full time job.

These so called working 'mothers', total disgrace. Taking men's work away, putting up house prices, and their poor little mites in baby farms whilst they provide for their families.

Why does MUMSnet let them on here?

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/09/2011 18:38

Dam wish i didnt have to go to work 2 moz, would love to sit on my backside all day. Single mum got no choice not to work, at least i do still manage to see my kids before and after work.

Proudnscary · 25/09/2011 18:42

SurprisEs - I started this thread as a mischievous nod to some of the ludicrous and really very hurtful points made on another thread about working mothers, it's really not about bashing any mothers for their choices - quite the opposite. Of course it is shit for women to judge each other, love, that's what we're saying.
