I'm confused by this talk of baby farms/factories.

Surely the accepted term on MN is now 'day orphanages'. Confused

motherinferior · 25/09/2011 12:14

You mean you pick them up every night? Respect. I couldn't do that.

catgirl1976 · 25/09/2011 12:15

I am depriving a man of a really good job and sometimes I make a fool of myself by reading that clever pink paper and pretending i know what it says. I am pg but still working and sometimes still wearing high heels, and am popping my DS in a day orphanage and back to work before he has even learnt to hold his own head up. I am the main breadwinner in our family and am thus eroding my DHs self-esteem as well as ruining the country.

Clearly I am only having said DS as I fancy a couple of weeks off and have watched that new SJP film and think it looks trendy to be a "busy working mum".

I have zero interest in the depth of quiche tins and wont have time to join the pta or hand sew name lables when the time comes.

Do I get a special evil star? :)

Proudnscary · 25/09/2011 12:18

Motherinferior - at our nusery there's a late night drop system where you can pop them in the hatch if you can't manage the full night.. But they are very hot on labelling the dc, they're really good like that.

Proudnscary but do they fill in the diary?

norriscoleforpm · 25/09/2011 12:25

why hasn't xenia commented yet? she's one of those 'ones' that really believe women should earn more then men Shock

Hatesponge · 25/09/2011 12:25

Cogito, I think I can go one better: single working mother with 2 children by 2 different fathers Shock neither of whom I was married to

Daily Fail would have a field day with me Grin

Proudnscary · 25/09/2011 12:27

Yes they do and they helpfully remind us of dc's names every time we pick them up. It's easy to forget after a day of number crunching in shoulder pads

But surely things were so much better "back then" when women still knew their place?

But now? The husband comes home after a long day at the office, and the house is in shambles, the kids are screaming, there is no dinner on the table, his shirts aren't ironed. The children come home from school to an empty cold house, eat crisps and biscuits instead of a hot nourishing meal, watch pornography on the telly, indulge in incest, the house burns down and their mother isn't there to stop it an the all die!

(shamelessly stolen from Marian Keyes)

Meglet · 25/09/2011 12:29

norris Xenia is probably working Grin.

norriscoleforpm · 25/09/2011 12:51

Oh yes, of course, it's sunday so she must be...hang on...running the country? Or is that Mondays?

AgentZigzag · 25/09/2011 12:55

What about all these mums who just sit on their fat arses on internet forums eh?

Who's disciplining their children and warning them about the dangers of judgemental old women at the supermarket?

Do their DHs have to fend for themselves? Sitting wasting away at the dinner table waiting for a Sunday roast that never appears?

It's always disgusted me.

Hang on, has no-one mentioned the horror of working mothers actually enjoying their work, and finding it just as fulfilling as parenting?

Surely this action, by not only depriving children of their mothers and cupcakes (and a man of a job) but actively enjoying it, makes it all x1 000 worse?

I think we need to call Nadine Dorries for some words of wisdom and perspective.

DawnTiggaWeirdyBeardy · 25/09/2011 15:42

I bet none of those evil witches working mothers EVER buy naice ham!

Cathycomehome · 25/09/2011 15:44

Proudnscary - you have to post your children through the hatch at the actual nursery? Ours is like LoveFilm, you can just put them in the post box, they send them back in the same envelope which you can reuse. Much more efficient.

Francagoestohollywood · 25/09/2011 15:48

I cry at the thought of those poor, poor children left with strangers 24/7 Sad.

I mean some of these women work to be able to afford holidays! WTF?

Northernlurker · 25/09/2011 15:50

Good point Op. Well known that working mums don't talk to their dcs or have any regard for their well bring. Excellent thread!

Please tell me where the other thread is? Not a link as iPhone app links still don't work Angry

Blackduck · 25/09/2011 15:54

And then when they go on said holiday they worked to pay for, they leave their children in the kids club! Scandalous I tell you....

MrsPoyser · 25/09/2011 15:56

I win, I win. I work because I don't like being at home with my children. DH is sahp because, obviously, my working has emasculated him to the point where he wants our sons to think that men can look after kids and run a house, thereby passing this aberration into the next generation. And right now, he's taken the kids out so I can work and I'm wasting time here instead so I'll have more work to do this evening and can thus avoid the shouty bits of bedtime and swan in to read stories, cherry-picking the fun bits as if I were a dad. And I'm going abroad for work this week, staying in a nice hotel and taking friends, I mean clients, out for dinner, while dh has to cook because I'm not even stocking the freezer for him. Do you reckon my kids will be serial killers or just feral?

floosiemcwoosie · 25/09/2011 15:57

They are all scum!

Blackduck · 25/09/2011 15:58

Both :)
