Has "God" conspired with British Gas to keep the heating bills as high as possible?

extra jumper and blankets-I will not give in. It is August!

Mitmoo · 30/08/2011 17:51

I've been out working all day, my feet are killing me, perhaps I'll just wallow for a little longer before going for the wooly jumper.

I think I will buy one of those blankets with the arms in, got my mum one last year, it might save me a fortune even if will age me by about 20 years.- Always thought they were for grans

I wonder when they'll start selling them this year.

It's bloody cold, I'd have the fire on if it were allowed/if I knew how to operate it.

Mitmoo · 30/08/2011 17:53

It is crazy we should be sunbathing not getting wrapped up in the winter woolies.

We have the heating on here (South East) Sad

I love the change of seasons but couldn't we have one last week of sunshine before the DCs go back to school????

Littlefish · 30/08/2011 18:13

We have been lighting our fire throughout the summer - just on the odd cold evening. We live in an old house, which is cold, even in the middle of summer. Lighting the wood burner for an hour just takes the chill out of the room. (But we also put on extra jumpers/rugs etc.)

CheshireDing · 30/08/2011 18:15

I don't know how to do the basic "click on it link thing" but here you go, 99p. It's unisex and I saw someone in the wood the other day wearing one (honestly) early in the morning when I was dog walking.

This is the coldest summer on record for decades apparantly, forget the exact number of years. beats myself with the stupid stick for not paying attention to the radio

Mitmoo · 30/08/2011 18:18

Jeez Cheshire I thought it was for fetishists, now I know it is. Do they have poppers under the crotch so the adults can get their nappies off. Grin

defineme I admire your pluck. Yes, pluck. I gave in and lit a fire. In AUGUST.

halecromp · 30/08/2011 19:44

We haven't got a fire and I am banned from putting the heating on until the end of October but it is soooooooooo COLD! x

mumeeee · 30/08/2011 19:49

YABU. It's not that cold. What will you do when the real winter comes?

Bohica · 30/08/2011 19:52

It's bloody freezing and the heating has been on since 4pm here.

Meglet · 30/08/2011 19:54

Yanbu. My heating is on first thing and again in the evening. My bones get so cold if we're not in a heatwave. I wear warm fleecy pj's at home but doesn't help when the air has a chill.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/08/2011 19:58

Mitmoo - since 93 apparently! i knew it was bad when I got chilblains a couple of weeks ago Shock

PeachyPossum · 30/08/2011 20:13

I have a onsie, best Pjs ever. :)

MissBetsyTrotwood · 30/08/2011 20:14

Heating on here. Kids in vests today Shock

It's freakin' August. AUGUST!

squeakytoy · 30/08/2011 20:23

Fire been on here for the last couple of nights, but it is a bit milder tonight...

I am jetting off on my hols tomorrow though and I cant bloody wait. Its only for a week, but a week of lazing by a pool in 85 degrees of heat is very appealing at the moment.

theinet · 30/08/2011 20:26

people are crackers ( or have really badly insulated homes) if they live in the South East and are putting the heating on already. It really isn't that cold. the lack of sun is making it feel cooler but seriously........ the heating should only really come on when its sub 18 degrees in the house.

and people wonder why they have high bills.... toughen up! :)

Deesus · 30/08/2011 20:28

Seriously? I'm not even cold yet! Well I shut the window earlier because it was a bit cool but putting the heating on didn't enter my head! No heating till November in our house. Have the chilly millys tried jumping up and down or investing in a slanket? Wink
