This Costco- is it any cop?

OP posts:
timidviper · 19/08/2011 23:50

I've just been today and I love it!

Wish they'd build one nearer to me though, I have a 45-50 minute drive to get there. If it was nearer I'd use it for my main shopping as the meat and fresh stuff is all lovely

rushofbloodtothefeet · 19/08/2011 23:50

Nope

southeastastra · 19/08/2011 23:53

ours is full of fat italian restauranteurs

usualsuspect · 19/08/2011 23:54

I've never been to a costco

cornsilx · 19/08/2011 23:54

no

AgentZigzag · 19/08/2011 23:57

Maybe if it's wool? Confused

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 20/08/2011 00:00

we use it regularly. Things we buy:

Buffalo mozzarella (huge tubs)
Washing powder
Dishwasher tablets
Razor blades

If we're having a party we usually get a tray of croissants/pains au choc, danish pastries and some pizzas.

Not everything is cheaper, and you have to have room to store it. Worth taking a receipt from your usual supermarket to check prices.

Rowena8482 · 20/08/2011 00:02

It's no good, I have to ask... Loopy - what do you do that uses so many razor blades it makes Costco cost effective?? or are you stocked up for the Apocalypse (Zombie or Otherwise) with a supply to last for years and years??

LeBOF · 20/08/2011 00:03

Good for parties.

LeBOF · 20/08/2011 00:04

Oh, and random large objects, like telescopes or fountains.

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 20/08/2011 00:06

We are stocked up thus.

We will never run out of razor blades of the Venus variety. Nor bin liners.

TrillianAstra · 20/08/2011 00:34

And your telescope shed is well-stocked Wink

LeBOF · 20/08/2011 00:38

Ooh, they do Venus razor blades? Excellent.

LordOfTheFlies · 20/08/2011 00:48

They send out a passport (and have instore) of special offers.
I always check on-line Sainsburys prices before I go.
But some things are practically half price.
Alot of the cleaning products are Professional grade.

J2O , Appletise, BinBags, foil and clingfilm
Nuttela, Heinz tomato ketchup

I bought a Kenwood hand held mixer which was £15 cheaper than instore.

Last year my DD got sheepskin boots (Ugg style ) Kirkland brand

TrillianAstra · 20/08/2011 00:48

I think LeBOF and LeQueen should have a LePonce-off :o

LordOfTheFlies · 20/08/2011 01:07

And apparently the Christmas stock is in already. Yay.

Might go tomorrow.
Hope I haven't missed the Hallowe'en stuff.

BTW they retail to traders hence they always have stock for 3-4 months ahead.

KimberlyClark · 20/08/2011 01:14

my freezer needs filling

is it worth it to seek out this costco do we think?

LeBOF · 20/08/2011 01:16

I have a subliminal Gallic Shrug. It gives me the edge Grin

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 20/08/2011 01:17

I want to produce a catalogue.

Page 2: Man pausing to admire his fountain as he carries a tray of croissants.

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 20/08/2011 08:30

Yes, it's ok. It's cheaper of course. But only if you are buying top brands anyway. If you like, I dunno, nescafe, then it's cheaper to buy it in costco. If you normally have tesco value range stuff then costco won't save you money Grin

I've got a costco card and a bookers card. I find bookers cheaper, because they do cheapo brands (happy shopper type stuff!) and big tubs - catering supplies. which works out very cheap.

Catsmamma · 20/08/2011 08:38

they sell giant jars of jellybelly jelly beans for about a tenner

TheHumanCatapult · 20/08/2011 08:45

hmm how do we get a costco card ? .I always look liek im bulkbuying when shopping ahyway

bedheadz · 20/08/2011 08:50

I heart Costco, its like a day out. Sad I know but I am easily pleased. Brilliant for chrismas stuff, meat, and fish.

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 20/08/2011 08:50

You have to be in business, or get a spouses card or have someone who is in business give you a card or be in one of the qualifying professions.

bedheadz · 20/08/2011 08:51

@catsmamma, jellybelly beans are the best especially at costco price.
