it'd be sort of cute, in a Hmm way lol

LordOfTheFlies · 17/08/2011 21:48

Imagine yourself in 10 years time calling their names at school . What's cute for a child...

(BTW this is from someone who has given her DCs two of the most popular dog's names. As I am constantly being reminded by people. Usually dog owners)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/08/2011 21:50

No. I love both names but together they sound a bit daft.

Lonnie · 17/08/2011 21:51

yes YABU use Flora instead if you want something FL or go ask on the name board for names like it

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 17/08/2011 22:18

You named your dc Fido and Lady Flies? Shock

LordOfTheFlies · 17/08/2011 22:45

Tyson and Fluffy Wink

RyvitaDiva · 17/08/2011 22:49

My dh maintains that he had his hair done once by a lady with 2 daughters:

Maisie and Daisy

I don't believe him.

purplepidjin · 17/08/2011 22:50

Laurence and Florence would make a lovely pair of Bichon Frises Hmm

LordoftheFlies, is it Rex and Millie?!

LolaRennt · 17/08/2011 22:52

they will be adults much longer than they are children so they wont always be seen as a pair. Give them names you like

Hatesponge · 17/08/2011 23:44

I did want a DD called Honor. Til I realised it rhymes with DS1's name. Thankfully DC2 was a boy, which avoided any rhyming concerns.

I have relatives (who are sisters) with rhyming names. Actually it's virtually the same name but one has an extra letter (think Louise and Eloise - thats not it, but it gives you the idea without outing myself completely!) Slightly odd when said together :)

LordOfTheFlies · 17/08/2011 23:52

My DC is Max -apparantly the most popular name for rescue dogs.

My DD is Holly. Lots of Hollys on dog rescue websites.

We have met loads of Max's and Holly's on our travels, of the four legged hairy, slobbery persuasion.

bellesbelle · 17/08/2011 23:55

I love Florence but with Laurence Noooooooo

muminthemiddle · 17/08/2011 23:55

My dh knows of sisters Leanne and Joanne.
Laurence and Florence sound ridiculous tbh.

Tracey Ulman named her kids Sidney and Mabel. Someone once suggsted that parents should consider how their child (when they become an adult) would feel about their name being called out during sex. Must admit I laughed at the time but now I have a DD I dont want to think about her like that - but it is a thought.

LineRunner · 17/08/2011 23:58

They could abbreviated poshly to Lol and Flo. Or Laurie and Flo.

Or, more horrifyingly, Lorrie and Florrie.

stleger · 18/08/2011 00:02

DD2 knows siblings Amy and Jamie. (Ddog is Max - he was named by rescue place; his best friend is Jack).

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 18/08/2011 00:04

Laurence, presumably named after Olivier, and Florence of Arabia?

reelingintheyears · 18/08/2011 00:06

Mabel is dreadful.

I'm coming Mabel...i'm coming...

Yeuch.

emmanumber3 · 18/08/2011 00:17

I wouldn't do it - the names are perfectly nice enough seperately but are just too comical together IMO.

If you already have the Laurence then, for me, that would rule out a Florence.

stleger · 18/08/2011 00:23

But definitely tell people you have decided to use it, just to see reactions. I'd imagine it would take a couple of seconds for the rhyming aspect to kick in....

ThatWomanAgain · 18/08/2011 12:00

I taught siblings called Simone and Simon and Daniel and Daniella. Both times 3rd and 4th children. Like the gender of choice came along next so they got to use their favourite name properly after all.

Quenelle · 18/08/2011 12:03

Laurie and Flo go well together.

Fimbo · 18/08/2011 12:07

Then there is Sam n Ella

I know siblings Callum & Cameron which is quite hard to say altogether

onemoreminute · 18/08/2011 14:33

I know a woman with twin girls called Milly and Molly.
