I have a friend whose sons are Niall, Ian and Brian - all have the letters ian in them, and Ian and Brian are very alike Smile. I haven't heard of a Laurence recently, I went to school with one shortened to Laurie; my lovely GP is also a Laurence shortened to Larry...but they are kindof old Wink. I like Laurence more than Florence, and I don't know why.

3 of my 4 DC have rhyming names... we mostly use nns so I don't think people ever notice. Problem is that Flory & Laurie rhyme, too!!

Don't listen to AuntiePickleBottom - if you have a third you have to call them something like Bob - imagine it, "oh yes, I have three children, Laurence, Florence and Bob." Bob is the best name for your 3rd.

Florence is a pretty name. Go for it, but be prepared for sniggers.

it would be hard finding another name that rhymes if you had more children

I love the name Florence-we would have called DS that if he had been a girl! Not really with laurence though! Mind you, as a teacher, I come across lots of stupid names... Lil Angel (as a first name) has got to be the worst so far...

I went out with one of a pair of identical twins; christened William and Philip, but inevitably called Bill & Phil :)

I also know brothers called Stanley and Daniel who go by shortened forms of their names so are Stan and Dan.

I used to look after twins called Willy and Wally, and my son went to playscheme with a brother and sister called Walter and Mabel. Poor little buggers. Sad

A bit too alike for my taste!

But I am Amy and my brother is Jamie Blush although we have a sister inbetween. Clearly my parents were not very imaginative!

Stleger I know Amy and jaimie sisters! And I knew siblings called mhairi and Gary. They had another brother who had a non rhyming name

I was thinking the punch line would be Olivia too......

Don't do it. Laurence and Florence does not work. Nor does Laurence and Olivia..........

I went to school with a Chloe and Zoe sibling pair.......

Also know a woman with 2 DDs, Milly and Molly - when she was pg again friends were all hoping she'd have another girl, to see if she called her Mandy!

'Twas a DS though.

You are joking! Everyone I know with more than one child gets the names muddled up if they are even vaguely similar. Even Flora will probably get tangled up in your mouth with Laurence and come out as Florence in those moments when you dont't have time to think before you shout...

As an Antonia Forest fan, I think you should go for Nichola.

pinkhebe · 18/08/2011 14:45

surely you'll want to call her Olivia Grin
