AIBU to be having severe palpitations?! Shock

You do not have to know how to cook to know what is and isnt healthy for you to eat.

slightlyunbalanced · 16/08/2011 23:57

How is she not obese eating that much sugar?!

OP posts:
snippywoo2 · 16/08/2011 23:57

Whats really sad is she doesnt know how to. What we should be looking at is why.

Heifer · 16/08/2011 23:57

It must be so expensive to eat takeaway food every day!

I don't understand how none of them are actually fat. I would have thought with their diets they would be right heifers ...

MoominsAreScary · 16/08/2011 23:57

Schools still do home ec, my son took it at gcse level

worraliberty · 16/08/2011 23:58

Why do people keep blaming the lack of home economics?

Cookery lessons are alive and well in schools...and information on healthy eating has never been more forthcoming and easily accessible.

snippywoo2 · 16/08/2011 23:59

some schools might but most dont

stickwithit · 16/08/2011 23:59

Really trying not to judge.

Shocked TBH.

I can see how not being taught basic cooking can create problems but this is really really extreme.

All of these homes have the internet. There are many simple cookery videos on here that are not difficult to find.

Cheap cookery books are available in charity shops, or any other place that sells books.

If you can read a frigging pizza leaflet, you can read a recipe. It is not rocket science.

slightlyunbalanced · 17/08/2011 00:01

Fair play to Cuba's mum for trying.

OP posts:
Heifer · 17/08/2011 00:02

never been to the dentist!!!!!!

worraliberty · 17/08/2011 00:02

Healthy eating is drummed into everyone and TV programmes like Jamie's school dinners etc have never been more popular.

You can't blame ignorance any more.

I don't know of any senior school that doesn't teach cookery

slightlyunbalanced · 17/08/2011 00:04

I want to punch Harleys mum in the face :(

OP posts:
FannyFifer · 17/08/2011 00:04

The dentist was rather nice. Grin

squeakytoy · 17/08/2011 00:07

If that woman says "nom nom nom" I may just have to throw something at the tv!

stickwithit · 17/08/2011 00:08

Surely what she is doing to his overall health and life expectancy would be more hard hitting than the dentist scare stories?

squeakytoy · 17/08/2011 00:13

Simon is quite clearly a twat.

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 17/08/2011 00:14

lewis, yes, thank you, but I don't have a TV and therefore no licence and can't watch live TV Sad

But the way this thread is going I am not sure I can watch it, it sounds too upsetting. How can you just never cook a meal for your child?

snippywoo2 · 17/08/2011 00:16

Can I just say I'm getting really pissed of with mn keep logging me out Angry why do you keep doing this ffs?

snippywoo2 · 17/08/2011 00:19

maybe its just me lol

wherearemysocks · 17/08/2011 00:20

You don't have to do home ec to work out how to put a decent meal on the table, all we did in our home ec classes was bake cakes.

These days though you can barely turn on the tv or read a magazine with there being something about healthy eating and there are plenty of easy recipe cook books out there if you really don't have a clue.

Its laziness not ignorance.

slightlyunbalanced · 17/08/2011 00:22

I would kill to have that kitchen and she doesn't cook in it Sad

OP posts:
Alambil · 17/08/2011 00:23

Wannabe, I apologise - didn't even consider that you couldn't watch it live. I am very stupid (I have a big grin on my face, but I am sincere in my apology!)

Alambil · 17/08/2011 00:24

AIBU to quite like the name Cuba?
