AIBU to be having severe palpitations?! Shock

My dds make quite good things in Home Ec. As all subjects, it depends on the teacher and one of them is fab.

What they really need though, is a double period. They often have to make short cuts because of fitting it all into one hour.

Obesity doesn't cause health problems but a bad diet does? Shock

Mine isn't great and I am slightly underweight. I am a "pestitarian" Grin type who eats some fish and only home-cooked chicken breast at Christmas. Protein comes from eggs, cheese and beans.

I find it very hard to believe that obesity brings no extra life-threatening health problems. Can you elaborate?

MoominsAreScary · 17/08/2011 15:23

Obesity can cause type 2 diabetes and heart disease just to name a few things

MoominsAreScary · 17/08/2011 15:25

and a bad diet can cause obesity

InfestationofLannisters · 17/08/2011 15:45

Okay. But my less-than-ideal diet hasn't ever made me over-weight in almost forty years. I did get a little bit heavy for me when I was drinking a lot of cider as a student but that fell off easily.

Sometime I only eat three or four fruits and vegetables a day Shock

Obesity must cause extra problems. An impaired mobility for a start. I remember going to the shops and to the supermarket as a young child and teenager and there were no scooters and / or "size-advantaged" people.

InfestationofLannisters · 17/08/2011 15:55

Then again... I'm going to apologise for my previous comment. Despite the fact that the bigger people I see on scooters are never in the fresh fruit / veg aisle, neither did I ever see older children in special trolleys at the supermarket and my autistic son (4) is very likely to need one soon.

So it's a good thing that society is catering for individual needs, not that he can help his autism, but many people can't help their size, can they?

I felt really sorry for the families, some more than others. And at least they had the guts to get some help.

I felt for the mum whose efforts were sabotaged by the dad who was buying cakes in secret. And how much must all those takeaways have cost?!

I don't remember any mention of breakfast, I wonder what they had? It didn't sound as though any of them even had one healthy meal a day.
