... er which is - we will deliver sometime within five days. We will text you on the morning we decide to deliver and you have to wait in all day for it..

I can't understand why they can't just pick a day, and tell me in advance so I can make arrangements to be in etc. That's what most shops do...

I've spent more than 300 quid and think this is just a very poor show..

They say it is due to them "upgrading" their delivery system but it's been going on for weeks.

I offered to collect from store but apparently then you have to wait 14 days - why no one could say...

Tis why I never ordered from M+P. YANBU

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 22:55

Have to say I haven't been loving their delivery either. Same problem as you. Also paid to have something delivered within 2 days, then got an e-mail saying one item was out of stock (not according to the website when I ordered it though) and they would send "all my items together when it was back in stock". Erm right thanks. :(

ButterflySally · 07/08/2011 23:14

yanbu. I have mixed emotions about m&p's in general... I love a lot of their stuff but I don't think it's always worth the price for the quality you get. Their delivery policy is indeed annoying and their stock control seems a little bit hit and miss at times.

Northernlurkerisgoingonholiday · 07/08/2011 23:16

That's apalling. Cancel your order and get the stuff from a decent independant shop.

if you can, cancel it, mamas and papas are shit. Honestly never had so many problems with one piece of fricking furniture in my life. From start to finish including delivery to this day 12 months later. Run away why you still can.

birdofthenorth · 07/08/2011 23:24

I opted for M&P store collection on a large item to avoid this (&mad delivery fees) £ that turned out to be s nightmare too Angry

alphablock · 07/08/2011 23:25

Had similar issue with House of Fraser. Was told my delivery could take weeks as it would come straight from suppliers. They said they would probably call a few days beforehand to tell me what day they thought it might be and they would ask the driver to ring me when they were 15 mins away!

Luckily my order turned up unexpectedly the following week on the one day of the week I wasn't working. There was no phonecall from either the store or the driver.

stressheaderic · 07/08/2011 23:31

Had similar delivery difficulties with M&P, who are indeed shit. Style over substance, all frippery and nothing worth having.

BoosMaw · 07/08/2011 23:42

I agree with the style over substance comments above, the few M&P things I've bought were all crap. Eg. wallpaper, the decorater man hanging it even told me he thought it was crap quality; fabric for curtains, I bought a 3m long piece to make my own, the pattern at one end was so different to the other that they looked wonky (just a check pattern, the checks were printed squint at one end). A wind up cot mobile, which skipped and clanked through the music. The only successful purchase I've made was the cot, which is still doing its job after over 5 years. The prices though are high.

sockpoppet · 07/08/2011 23:43

Buy m and p, just don't buy it from them.argos sell it

Bunsouttheoven · 07/08/2011 23:51

I bought a m&p pushchair, the wheel kept falling off, they replaced the shaft but it still kept happening. They said they could not replicate the fault so tough for me. I had had it less than 6 months. Their customer care was horrendous, they rely on being such a big name that they are untouchable.

I'm not surprised their delivery service is also on their terms.

Would never buy anything m&p again.

PeterSpanswick · 08/08/2011 01:40

Another here, we bought a cot, wardrobe and chest set from them and while the furniture looks lovely it is v flimsy. Annoying when we could have shopped around and found something decent and solid for not much more than we paid. Damn internet shopping!

myBOYSareBONKERS · 08/08/2011 07:00

I had similar problems as everyone else - I was SO stressed. But the furniture we eventually got was lovely and very solid. I wouldn't go back there and I don't recommend to anyone unless you can take it away immediately from the store!

drcrab · 08/08/2011 07:10

I have never liked them especially after I tried to return something that was given as a present (to exchange for something else). They wanted me to prove that it was from their store (ie that particular branch (??!!)) and didn't have a store number to call. The person I spoke to was rude and uninterested in serving their customer.

Overpriced.

posterofawolef · 08/08/2011 07:46

The upside to their crap pram returns policy (you can't if it's been outside) is that you can get some bargains on eBay.

The stores are horrible. The counter staff once made me wait 10 minutes for change while I was horribly pregnant, refused to take a card instead and no effort to look in any other till. I walked out.

TattyDevine · 08/08/2011 07:51

I have heard nothing but stories of horror from people who have bought from them.

Thus I never have and never will.

uninspired · 08/08/2011 07:55

Oh dear thats pretty crap

LoveBeingAtHomeOnMyOwn · 08/08/2011 08:00

I ordered some of there stuff from an independant shop and when they took delivery and had to tell them to take it away again as it was damaged Shock

if I had to buy again I won't buy the actual furniture from there would go john lewis.

Honeydragon · 08/08/2011 08:03

If you can get the item anywhere else cancel your order m&p are terrible, it will only get worse.

Average hold time with them is 15 years before you get through to a highly trained professional who will tell you to fuck off in 7 seconds

onlyaname · 08/08/2011 08:05

Terrible store. Cancel now!!!

Delivery terrible, but just wait til something goes wrong and you have to return it to the store to get it fixed.... That really is a PITA.

Pram I had for DD went had faulty wheels this was fixed in later models but they refused to replace pram only fix it. But wheel kept on breaking.

Products rubbish, poor design, poor build quality and customer care terrible. I will never buy a M&P product again.

vj32 · 08/08/2011 09:52

I haven't had much of a problem - like the fact you can put a deposit down to reserve a pram but then get it back if you change your mind. (or if you find it £150 cheaper 2 months later on their website!!)

stella1w · 11/08/2011 03:45

wow.. I really thought it was just me..
pushchair in fact arrived at 7.30am one day - no text to let me know it was coming but as I was in, it was okay.
However, the handlebar foam is deeply dented in several places and I still have not had a return call from them to find out what they will do about it.

Oh, this does not sound good. We are supposed to have a delivery of furniture on 1st September and they said they would ring the week before to say a time etc.

Yesterday we had an answer phone message though that cut off mid way through saying their supplier had let them down and? (got cut off). Our answer phone has never left half messages before so maybe they couldn't be arsed and just put the phone down.

I tried to ring for 15 minutes but never got through so have emailed, apparently you got a response in 2 days. We will see otherwise no baby furniture in time for us.

VeronicaCake · 11/08/2011 09:14

I'm another one who gave up on M&P after one order. I returned goods to them by recorded delivery and never received a refund. Never got a response to e-mails or phone calls. In the end went to one of their shops to complain and was told they advised customers to use the small claims court to recover their money! Since the goods weren't worth that much I wrote it off and vowed never to waste my money on them again.
