... er which is - we will deliver sometime within five days. We will text you on the morning we decide to deliver and you have to wait in all day for it..

I can't understand why they can't just pick a day, and tell me in advance so I can make arrangements to be in etc. That's what most shops do...

I've spent more than 300 quid and think this is just a very poor show..

They say it is due to them "upgrading" their delivery system but it's been going on for weeks.

I offered to collect from store but apparently then you have to wait 14 days - why no one could say...

I wouldn't buy from M&Ps ever again. furniture arrived damaged and was such a pita to get replaced. Costs a small fortune and the curtains for DD2's room are so thin they are like cling film.

Never Ever Ever shopping there again

Katiebeau · 11/08/2011 09:47

We have given them a second chance as the design of their furniture is more suitable for smaller foot print rooms than other shops but their customer service is the PITS!! The furniture was so badly damaged when it arrived I didn't even have to unpack it - you could see the massive broken bit on the corner and middle and it is taking 2 weeks before delivery can be rearranged. DREADFUL customer service. All frilly garters and no knickers as my Gran would say........ I will never shop with them again and if anything is damaged this time around I will have to give up and send it all back. And start looking again, at 7.5 months pregnant with new baby, desparate to move DD to her "big room". God they are stressing me out.

greenlady78 · 17/12/2011 10:46

Gosh, we must have a way to let all the mum here on MN to know how horrible and unhelpful their customer service is!!!! I am absolutely appalled by veronicacake post!!!!

I am in the middle of trying to have a pram delivered and beyond stressed, they don't know where my item is or when it will be delivered!!!! First and last time I ever order something from Mamas and Papas!!!!

As a new parent you do not know about 'speciality'shops like this one until you try them, and can say that I will be doing all of my shopping via Kiddicare from now on, amazing delivery service and cheaper prices, what is not to like?

emsyj · 17/12/2011 10:52

Oh M&Ps are so so so rubbish - I am another 'one order, and never again' person. I ordered a load of sleeping bags when they were half price (4 of them) and a moses basket. Was notified it had arrived and went to collect from the store (costing me about £6 in petrol as it is a long drive down the motorway, but seemed a better option than having to wait in more or less forever for a delivery) and was kept waiting (standing up, never offered a seat) whilst very very very pregnant for a full 35 minutes while they faffed around. Eventually they said one of the sleeping bags hadn't arrived and I would have to come back next week

CailinDana · 17/12/2011 12:09

I don't know why anyone ever buys anything from M+P. Absolutely everything they sell can be bought more cheaply elsewhere and the quality and service is shocking.

AnaisB · 17/12/2011 12:17

Ditto everything negative that's been said above.

I've had problems with their products, their delivery and their customer services. I quite like their baby clothes but boycott them on principal.

minibmw2010 · 17/12/2011 12:26

We bought lots of stuff from M&P when pregnant. Love our pram but all the attachments/extras are crap. They make everything to fit all styles, but it means nothing ever really fits properly. We have a footmuff that is rubbish and I always feel guilty that DS may end up cold Angry

FrenchRuby · 17/12/2011 23:23

I ordered something from them once, they took the money out of my account and 3 weeks later I realised that I'd still not received it. So I emailed them and they said it was out of stock and wouldn't be back in stock. If I hadn't emailed them they would never have told me and kept my money!!

gitinora · 18/12/2011 00:27

I am another who would never shop at M&P again to much to go into but terrible products (pram) terrible customer service terrible delivery service too

ElphabaisWicked · 18/12/2011 00:35

Glad to asee nothing has changed in the last 10 years.

10 years ago expecting dd went into their shop with my mum to buy pram.

Being a total novice I was trying to work out the difference between two different models one was approx £100 more expensive.

Asked assistant about it - what does this one have that one doesn't etc and she told me I would need to buy a catalogue to find out.

we walked out and spent our money in an independent shop who had assistants that could advise on their products.

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 18/12/2011 01:33

If it helps I had great service from them recently, my 13 month old buggy strap snapped got caught in the boot door I went online and filled on the form, phone cal next day from lady in shop (was the end of line store in stoke) she said bring it in see what we can do, I explained I was over an hour away so she leg me take it to local outlet store, came back 3 weeks later with a brand new strap and a new handle which is the reason we got it for less than 30% of the original price

Sent a big bunch of flowers to her because I was so impressed!

I know this is an old post but felt the need to add to it. apologies in advance for the essay/rant!

We ordered our nursery furniture (costing over £1k, not that cost is important) in store mid January. They wanted to charge us for delivery (fair enough, most places do) but when we said we could collect ourselves from store, we were told that the only option is to have it delivered for insurance purposes, even though we were willing to accept full liability if anything was to happen. So on top of the money we'd already spent with them, they tried to squeeze out more! After speaking to the store manager we eventually got the delivery fee wavered.

As some of the items were out of stock they were unable to deliver until 4wks later, again not a problem. nobody's fault it wasn't available & wasn't in any rush as we still needed to finish decorating baby's room.
When the furniture arrived, we discovered that they had sent the wrong colour wardrobe doors (pine instead of white), annoying yes, but still plenty of time to get it sorted - or so we thought. Firstly they wanted to charge us for the courier to come & collect the parcel & to bring the correct colour out, many calls to & from their contact centre (which is only open during office hours so had to spend the majority of my lunch breaks at work on the phone), over a number of days, they decided they would "let us off" with this fee.

We were then told we had to wait another 2 weeks before they could come & deliver the replacement. We received a delivery confirmation to state the delivery would be yesterday (13th) only for the courier to phone yesterday lunch time to arrange delivery for today. The delivery company hadn't even received notification or the items from mamas & papas until yesterday! Angry

seems to be one thing after another. The delivery company (Panther) have been more than helpful so can't grumble about them.

Puffinlover · 14/03/2015 19:57

I had M&P nursery furniture which I was really happy with but ordered via Glagow Pram Centre website. The prices were cheaper than M&P direct (I'm pretty sure it was current stock too) plus delivery was free.

Hate M&P. Had consistently shit unhelpful staff serving me at the Birmingham Bull Ring branch. Wouldn't accept a returned gift even with a receipt as I had gone one day over the 28 day limit. I explained that that had been my first trip into town after a very difficult birth and emergency c-section, and with no family or friends nearby I had not been able to get the store earlier being so poorly. They couldn't give a flying fuck, told me to write to head office, which I did. Never got a reply to that or to my email to head office.
Would never shop with them again.

listsandbudgets · 14/03/2015 22:02

Wow what's happened to them? DD is now 9 - born late 2005. We got lots of her stuff from M&P and they were great. IIRC they gave me a four hour delivery slot and turned up 30 minutes into it.

DS is 2. We used an independent and picked everything up from the shop at the time of purchase. It sounds like we had a lucky escape. The "service" sounds dreadful now
