I mean he obviously has.. we have a child. But I've never actually walked past him in my birthday suit in the day light. Am I freak?

ps I am not a prude, I just don't like the look of me naked.

is it a problem between you?

valiumredhead · 07/08/2011 16:20

Light of day??? No YANBU! Grin

SnapesMistress · 07/08/2011 16:21

Not a prude but I think its a bit sad that you are not comfortable in your own skin. I'm sure DH wouldn't think twice if you walked by him naked. Do you sleep in nightclothes and get dressed in a different room?

LolaRennt · 07/08/2011 16:21

DH made it clear very early on he's prefer the lights on and a good "view" but he's come to terms with it for the most part!

Good valium nice to know I am not alone!

I sleep naked sometimes (but under a duvet) I do get dressed in the bathroom Blush

Ha! My DH wishes he had never seen me waltz around naked in harsh daylight in all my wobbly glory, I bet.

YANBU though, whatever you feel comfortable with. I have no problem displaying my body, but the man will never hear me fart (unless I'm asleep, that doesn't count)

YAB odd, yes.

What is it that you imagine is wrong with you that your DH shouldn't see?

OR what is wrong with him that anything bad would happen if he did see you?

wicketkeeper · 07/08/2011 16:33

Poor you. I prescribe a box set of Gok Wan 'How to Look Good Naked'. What don't you like about you naked? Fix everything that can be fixed - don't waste any more time.

AngryFeet · 07/08/2011 16:35

I find it very odd to be honest. But then DH and I are very open with each other and feel completely at ease. We are not the type to lock the door for a bath/shower or even to go to the loo. Does this mean you always have sex with the lights off? Why are you so ashamed of your body? I probably should be ashamed of mine considering I am 3 stone overweight, have a wrinkly and slighty saggy baby belly and cellulite. But despite that I am comfortable in my skin and DH loves and desires every part of me so I never feel I have anything to be ashamed of. I wouldn't be comfortable naked in front of anyone else mind but I am happy to look in the mirror without criticising myself too much :)

worraliberty · 07/08/2011 16:40

This reminds me of an old couple I used to know when I worked in a hairdressers.

They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary and she said he had never seen her naked or without a full face of make up and hair done Shock

She used to get up an hour before him every morning to 'make herself nice' before he saw her.

Poweredbypepsi · 07/08/2011 16:47

It's a bit odd tbh why do you feel so ashamed of body?
I think I would go crazy having to cover up all the time and I would be a bit insulted if dh didn't trust me to see him naked in daylight.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 07/08/2011 16:56

It is a bit unusual and sad that you feel so conscious, I think.

My body is a right state but it has never occurred to me to be concerned about dh seeing me naked. I have a saggy stretchmarked tummy with an overhang from surgery but DH doesn't seem to care.

I don't think I would like sex in the darkConfused And what about morning sex or a quickie in the daytime if there are no dc's around, how does not being seen naked work when it's daylightConfused

i think it's a shame. i was like that with my ex and it upset him. i've never been like that with DH though, i dont trot about naked as a matter of course because i still dont like naked me, but i dont worry that the sight of me will have him running for the hills. i feel completely comfortable with him in a way i never did before. nothing my ex did wrong, i've just changed. and so could you! is my point :)

Soupqueen · 07/08/2011 17:48

I bet if you walked past naked, his only thought would be "wow". Try it, I dare you ;-)

SardineQueen · 07/08/2011 17:49

Oh that's made me feel a bit sad. I knew that there were women who felt like this and here you are OP. I wish you were secure enough (in whatever area it is you are not secure enough to do this) not to feel that way.

Mind you I'm always wandering around starkers and so is DH. And the kids.... They are young though not to think anything of it, I imagine we'll have to cover ourselves at some point when they start thinking it's weird

janelikesjam · 07/08/2011 17:55

I understand where OP is coming from. Esp. if your body is slightly different from "average" there can be a life-long worry of not measuring up or being different.

However, now I am getting very old really, I realise that women's bodies in reality, and in the flesh - including mine - are beautiful and should be celebrated absolutely. Its just the way it is.

And all those stereotype silly-model pictures are nothing.

NoobyNoob · 07/08/2011 17:55

YANBU - it took me ages to be comfortable walking around nekkid with DH in sight.

I had major body issues, but he's watched me grow as big as a house, and give birth to his son, so I figured what the hell!

And I agree with Soup :)

I am a pretty average size 12 but always walk round naked with my bf (well I dont have one at the moment but previous fellas!)

I am also a lights on kinda girl!

exoticfruits · 07/08/2011 18:00

It seems very sad to me that you are so uncomfortable with yourself and body image. I'm not sure how you manage to stay covered up.

Whatmeworry · 07/08/2011 18:01

IMO it's very important to be comfortable in your own skin, for your own self esteem never mind being more sensuous with others etc. And in my experience men are not nearly as bothered as you are.

Try it, it's liberating!

Tortington · 07/08/2011 18:03

christ, everyone in my family has seen me naked, cellulite, stretchmarks n all.

TheOriginalFAB · 07/08/2011 18:04

I am not sure this is an AIBU question but it is a shame you don't feel comfortable to walk about naked. Your DH loves you and enjoys your body. Try it once, see how it goes.
