She is 5 months old. Cannot sit. Cannot roll. Cannot crawl. Cannot
Bumshuffle.

FFS she can't bloody walk either!

Ok I know I'm being mean but we've been subjected to ridiculous status updates such as this for 5 months now!
Maybe I'm jealous as my DD only just started to walk at 1 year.

I must admit I do get a strange sense of pleasure out of reading her updates. Do I need therapy?!

Isn't this why FB was invented?

When they're newborn they can 'walk' and presumably from about 6 months it's possible (my friend's DD walked properly, unaided at 9m!) but 5 months, no way

What they mean is that if they dangle the poor girl by her arms at just the right height she'll move her legs in a vaguely walking sort of way.

Her first words will be "Somebody help me!".
She'll learn her numbers really early just so she can call Childline.

But having said that, my friend's DD could walk totally unaided at 6 months

The look on people's faces was hilarious when they knocked at the door and she'd toddle up the hallway to see who was there

What do they mean? Are they holding her up and dragging her feet across floor?! Don't worry about it, just have a secret laugh at their PFBness.

My little sister (well she's 29 now but you know what I mean) was walking at 8 months. Two big sisters and two parents and I suppose she wanted to keep up!!

I'd have to respond in some way. Something like 'Really? I'd be ringing the papers if that was one of mine! And yet she's still not rolled over? Extraordinary!'

More seriously, it's not good for them to put weight on their feet at that age, is it? (Can't really remember the milestone ages anymore!)

I'm afraid that the comments underneath the status update point to the hold, dangle and drag theory.
Apparently the fact that she's moving her legs in a step-like motion is enough and counts as 'walking' (probably trying to get away!)

I know. I remember saying it actually looked 'cruel' when her DD had a little babygrow on and she looked so tiny...to see her put her on the floor

God why would you be jealous? My DS walked at 8.5 months and I could have cried. DD walked at 13 months which was much easier. The longer before they can get around by themselves the better in my book

I was gutted when ds1 crawled at 6 months, the day after he started cruising round the furniture. He couldn't sit at the time, I felt cheated of a baby who would sit with toys strategically placed around him, and it was a nightmare keeping tabs on him.

Dd walked at 13 months, ds2 at 20 (lazy), ds3 isn't yet, and is 14 months.

ah bless, poor lady if baby is actually really walking. what a nightmare having such a young baby so mobile! i'm so happy mine walked later on.

Um, I would say it IS possible, if only because DS1 walked unaided at 7 months old. By 7 and a half months, he was running. On the flip side, DD walked on her 1st birthday, and DS2 didn't walk till he was 3yrs7months. DS3 looks like being another quick one, rolled at 9 weeks, commando crawled at 20 weeks, properly crawled at 24 weeks, and now, at 26 weeks, is pulling himself halfway up on his toybox (then thudding his head off the floor when he lets go if I don't have the reflexes of a sodding cat...). I give DS3 2-3 weeks before he's cruising.

Mt DD (DC3) started walking unaided at 7mths. She is now 11mths and it is HARD work!!

I would have been sooooooooooo smug if DC1 had walked so early, but by no3 I just want a 'normal' one

With the first you cant wait for them to do 'stuff' and really want them to be advanced.......
By 16mths they all pick their noses and pull their nappies off to crap on the floor though! [girn]

Wow! I am so impressed by all these little walkers! I would love to be somewhere that there are lots of teeny tiny little people walking around - very surreal! :)

On the downside, looks like I'll have to take my DC off the G & T register and start booking them into improvement classes as they're clearly not trying hard enough!

Some evil person has commented underneath about the help she is being given and yes, plain as day, it's 'holding my hands, while we both walk forward'.

Can't wait 'til she starts talking!

We have a big italian community locally and I was told by the local shoe shop owner (who was a podiatrist) that lots of italian babies are walking at 7 months.
DS was 10 months but he was a huge lump and I was grateful I didn't have to carry him around much anymore.
