Seriously? Bubs? seriously?

I can think of very few ways to describe a child that are less annoying than Bubs,AIBU?

My in-laws referred to my son when he was small as "the babs" seriously it made me want to choke them.
They never called my second child it as think DP must had a word.
An irrational rage came over me every time they said it.
