You can't rip pages out to use in the loo at a Greek campsite (or any other campsite for that matter). Design flaw. They'll never catch on.

i think they are hard to master tbh

GwendolineMaryLacey · 09/06/2011 17:41

How are they at wedging under a dodgy table leg?

belgo · 09/06/2011 17:41

You can't swot flies with them either. (or maybe you can, but it would break).

FriedaLivery · 09/06/2011 17:42

they BREAK
thats the big problem

and they are of more value than a crappy paperback

belgo · 09/06/2011 17:43

and you can't flick the pages for use as a makeshift fan.

MissVerinder · 09/06/2011 17:44

Neither can you lend them to your bessies for fear they discover your stash of... ahem... "colourful" literature. When I say colourful, I mean mostly pink. And squashy.

grovel · 09/06/2011 17:44

And I thought I was going to get flamed!

OP posts:
GwendolineMaryLacey · 09/06/2011 17:44

or stand your mug on when the sprogs have slid all the coasters under the sofa.

belgo · 09/06/2011 17:46

'And I thought I was going to get flamed!'

talking of flames, you can't use them to make a camp fire whilst on you greek campsite.

grovel · 09/06/2011 17:47

Good point, belgo.

They're fucking useless.

OP posts:
grovel · 09/06/2011 18:03

Obviously designed by a Hellenophobic, constipated nerd who's never sat in the sun or bought anything from MFI.

dizzyblonde · 09/06/2011 18:53

But you can read your 'colourful' literature on the train without being looked at strangely.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 09/06/2011 18:54

Where are you all getting this 'colourful' literature, pervs? :o Just out of interest, y'know...

BelovedCunt · 09/06/2011 18:56

i have never used a paper back to wipe my arse you freakolas

ForeverNamechanging · 09/06/2011 18:58

Oh yes i do now read dirty books without shame in public as no one can see what im reading.

ggirl · 09/06/2011 19:00

they break??!

no wonder amazon have been sending me details of insurance

who has had one break then ?

HeadfirstForHalos · 09/06/2011 19:00

YANBU

Also, if you download a newspaper on it, when you've finished reading it you can't use it to line the litter tray Angry

BelovedCunt · 09/06/2011 19:01

there are LOADS of free dirty books, i haven't tried any... yet

Snorbs · 09/06/2011 19:02

You also can't use one to construct a paperback staircase adorned with breadstick crumbs to entice a runaway hamster into a carefully prepared bucket trap. And if you can't do that, what's the point of the damn things?

BelovedCunt · 09/06/2011 19:03

but... when your daughter really really wants to read the second witch baby book and your local bookshop has run out you can have it in seconds.

i love my kindle

ComeWhineWithMe · 09/06/2011 19:07

I've had 2 break and I only got it in December. First time 3g stopped working and second time the screen broke. Amazon were very good about still annoying though.

Chipotle · 09/06/2011 19:10

I love my kindle too... It smells nice and leathery (admittedly though that's down to the case and not the kindle), books have a funny musty smell especially if they're old. But you are all indeed correct it cannot be used as a coaster, doorstop, to stop a table wobbling and heaven forbid you drop it in the bath!

Atwaroverscrabble · 09/06/2011 19:12

I keep hearing about people reading it in the bath.... Is it doable? Doesn't the steam affect it??

BelovedCunt · 09/06/2011 19:13

depends on how many dirty books you have on it

grovel · 09/06/2011 19:15

When I broke the spine on my Kindle to make it easier to read all the words disappeared.
