address each other as "ladies"?

"Come on ladies..." etc

it's so fucking perky

it makes my teeth itch

ZumbaRumba · 07/06/2011 10:30

Anything but 'girls'

ooohyouareawfulbutilikeyou · 07/06/2011 10:30

"you guys" sends me running from the room screaming

Ooopsadaisy · 07/06/2011 10:31

How about "girlies"?

That really makes my buttocks clench. (Good for the pelvic floor though if you rmember to pull up at the same time!) Grin

uselesscamhs · 07/06/2011 10:31

what would you prefer saidspider?

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile · 07/06/2011 10:32

do we need a collective noun?

If we really really have to, then "you lot" or "everyone" or something

something non-perky

Women is good. Like.... morning women Smile

shakey1500 · 07/06/2011 10:35

I think ladies is poilte. That's what I'm sticking to :)

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile · 07/06/2011 10:36

it has always been one of the things that distinguishes us from The Other Place, the fact that we don't do all this self-infantilising "come on girls!" "all you lovely ladies" bullshit

OP posts:
HolyFail · 07/06/2011 10:39

I like 'ladies'

I am a lady

worraliberty · 07/06/2011 10:39

Oh but it's so much better than 'Laydeez'...that makes me want to pull my teeth out.

Zimm · 07/06/2011 10:44

YANBU. I think 'you lot' is in keeping with tone of MN.

shinyshoes · 07/06/2011 10:46

I use ladies

What do you suggest as an alternative then Spider?

cannydoit · 07/06/2011 10:47

how about "yo cunts" Grin

bupcakesandcunting · 07/06/2011 10:47

Bitches.

That's how I address my fellow Mumsnetters. I think they like it.

Don't you, bitches? Wink

montmartre · 07/06/2011 10:47

Better 'Ladies' than 'Mums'!

onclefestere · 07/06/2011 10:47

wenches?

financialadvice · 07/06/2011 10:48

whats wrong with ladies? I like it, I am a lady, don't you know!!!

DoMeDon · 07/06/2011 10:50

Ladies reminds me of a sleazy waiter - 'ello laydeeze' [smarm]

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile · 07/06/2011 10:50

well yes "laydeez" is also hideous

but at least with "laydeez" there is the possibility that the poster KNOWS it is bloody awful and is exaggerating by using the dreadful spelling

"come on all you lovely ladies" makes me want to spit

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 07/06/2011 10:50

PMSL at "yo, cunts" . :o

Ooopsadaisy · 07/06/2011 10:53

I refer to myself as "sad old bird".

"yo, cunts" - that would certainly get my attention Grin.

uselesscamhs · 07/06/2011 10:55

how about 'peeps' ?

stealthsquiggle · 07/06/2011 10:55

"Oi, you lot" works for me...

saidthespiderwithahorridsmile · 07/06/2011 10:56

"peeps" is also disgustingly perky

but at least it doesn't have the woman-infantilising quality of "ladies"

OP posts:
Ooopsadaisy · 07/06/2011 10:56

I used to work for a bloke who addressed his workforce as "people".

I'm sure it was because he had no idea of any of our names (nor cared).
