Noticed someone in a communal changing room putting tights on followed by knickers on top. I can't imagine why you would want to do that unless a) your tights were constantly falling down or b) you were chanelling Superman. Am I missing something or can someone enlighten me as to why this would be a good idea?

[disclaimer: I don't usually spend my time looking at other women's underwear in changing rooms - honest Blush]

The thought of knickers over tights has just made my skin crawl.

MalkieFraser · 25/05/2011 23:30

Ewwww!!! Tights 'draw' me at the best of times, never mind sans pants. I do however wear pants both beneath and on top of my tights due to the falling down issue.

Glitterknickaz · 25/05/2011 23:31

Two pairs of pants rule for me every time

Goodynuff · 25/05/2011 23:31

stockings solve that issue Grin

BooyHoo · 25/05/2011 23:35

eugh!! i winced when reading that!!

WishIWasRimaHorton · 25/05/2011 23:37

my mum does that

tis too weird tho

manicbmc · 25/05/2011 23:43

Tights with a nice breathable gusset Grin - though wearing pants over the top is just weird.

But I rarely wear tights because I live in my jeans and only own one dress (no skirts) Grin

KurriKurri · 25/05/2011 23:44

When I was at school (1970's) we had to wear underpants (normal pants) tights, then overpants (enormous thick cotton bloomers) I have no idea why, - presumably to make sure we didn't have sex with any passing boys.

KurriKurri · 25/05/2011 23:45
  • I no longer go in for multiple pantage
FabbyChic · 25/05/2011 23:45

I used to do that when I wore tights 25 years ago, didn't give me thrush though.

knittynoodle · 25/05/2011 23:47

Shniff shniff!

mrsdonkeybucket · 25/05/2011 23:49

Urgh. Can't stand tights. Only stockings or hold ups for me.

Must get awfully sweaty/sticky ? Blush

kakapo · 26/05/2011 00:06

are you sure she didn't have underwear on under the tights too? i have been known to have an extra pair over the top to prevent falling down issues.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 26/05/2011 00:08

my mum wears no pants under. pants over only.

HTH

Grin
NettoSuperstar · 26/05/2011 00:08

You all clearly wear the wrong size tights. Mine stay up with no need for extra pants.

Tights with no knickers is just inviting in that cottage cheese.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 26/05/2011 00:19

not me with the wrong size tights, netto. my mum. just to be clear.

no cottage cheese here.

BitOfFun · 26/05/2011 00:20

I never ever wear tights

BUT, how is knickers first, tights next any different to the other way around, thrush-wise?

NettoSuperstar · 26/05/2011 00:40

Because tights aren't cotton, they are nylon? (are they? at least they are not cotton or a breathable fabric)
They must be awfully sweaty right next to your fanjo.

Mind you, I seem to have an opinion when I last wore a skirt, and therefore tights, about 3 years ago.

I'd have to wear some kind of hideous old lady maximum strength tights to hide my thigh cellulite, so these days I just go for the trousers.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 26/05/2011 06:40

Allegedly Ms V Westwood habitually goes commando.

Does that mean she wears tights with no drawers under or over? And is wearing tights sans thong truly commando?

Mandy2003 · 26/05/2011 07:20

I cannot imagine Vivienne Westwood wearing tights, ever! Sorry!

I believe she means she does not wear pants, thong or tights.

i only have to look at nylon and i tempt thrush.

I can't see why anyone would do that, don't the tights get minging. Maybe it doesn't matter tho, if you only wear them once then wash.

fatlazymummy · 26/05/2011 09:57

I don't see why anyone would want to wear tights at all, unless their work has a dress code that dictates them. They are disgusting things that serve no useful purpose [and I include stockings in this category]. Just wear trousers in the winter, trousers or skirts with bare legs in the summer.
