Whos watched it then? if not yet, will you watch?

I dont know if i will, its still a life lost.

i would have preffered he wasnt killed but taken to trial. im sure he would have been killed at some point anyway, tortured to death in the most painful manor. or he might have committed suicide or died in suspisious circumstances while in prison. maybe spies would have got him eventually.

I think we let him off killing him straight off. But part of me does feel like killing him could have prevented all these needless deaths had we had intelligence.

I dont know, your thoughts?

Right on gawdblimey, and they should have also stuffed a bacon sarnie in his mouth for good measure, cantspel before unceremoniously cremating him (which is what I suspect they may have done after pickling what was left of his brain for further study).

That's a video I'd watch, knittedbreast

Until we eradicate the scourge of man-made religion and the curse of patriotism from this beautiful planet and reach a shared consensus of moral values, there's very little chance that the peoples of the world can live in peace.

cantspel · 05/05/2011 16:20

why is it bigotry?
he did what he did in the name of islam. He thought that by waging jihad he would enter heaven. His followers also believe this. They also believe that if he is unclean he can never enter heaven/jannah.

It isn't anti islam for not wanting his followers to believe he is barred from heaven as i am sure many muslims would prefer to think of him burning in hell rather than enjoying himself with 72 virgins.

LoveLeonardCohen · 05/05/2011 16:21

It's a virus anyway and why on earth would anyone want to watch it?

knittedbreast · 05/05/2011 16:29

you can still go to heaven if you eat pork, you just have to repent and try not to do it again.

also the virgin thing refers to people or being who are clean from sin as servents, rather than as sexual being ready to service him however he wishes

If they truly believe that they can enter heaven by only being clean, how does blowing up innocent people equate? It doesn't.

Your sausage comment was unnecessary. He's already had a bullet in the head, no need to defame Islam (which he used but clearly didn't practice) as well.

headfairy · 05/05/2011 16:33

gracekelly from what I understand OBL may have had rather more damage inflicted on him than the others. Certainly the pics I've seen show lots of blood and obviously dead people but nothing too horrendous (maybe I'm a bit desensitised) From what I can gather from the Obama interview on American tv the shots of Bin Laden are more graphic. I'm assuming there wasn't much left of his head.

RunAwayWife · 05/05/2011 16:44

FFS it was not murder, its call war

jasminetom · 05/05/2011 16:49

he is just one guy. He is or was never Hitler. Things are different now and whether he is alive or dead, whether he has been dead for a long time, he is not the problem and never was. Do you really believe that if he had suddenly been killed all terrorism would stop? It is ridiculous to believe that one man would have that much power over a small group of Muslims

jasminetom · 05/05/2011 16:51

and having lived in the Middle East for 6 years, I have never, ever heard an anti western comment except from people who watch Jeremy Kyle on UKTV and cannot understand why Brits live that way. Americans at least look after their teeth.

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 16:54

jasminetom, if nothing else it shows that the government took his actions serously enough to mete out "justice". It won't change anything, but I haven't seen anyone say it would.

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 05/05/2011 17:02

If Islam truly is the peace-loving religion that many of its followers claim, TechLovingDad, then clearly Bin Laden was a non-believer who used that particular religion for his own ends, and no true Muslim would have any problem with the manner or fact of his demise.

As for cantspel's somewhat tongue-in-cheek (or banger-up- rectum) comment, it is pertient in that if Jihadists are not assured of getting their leg over with umpteen virgins attaining Paradise as a reward for martyrdom perhaps there'd be fewer of them.

I'm curious as to what reward await female Jihadists? Prestat chocs and no weight gain, endless spa pamper days, or a plethora of inexperienced males to have their evil way with?

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 17:05

Actually Izzy, it's typical of the male nature of religion isn't it? The reward for a good life is to spend eternity shagging loads of virgins.

As you say, wonder what it is for women?

bigbuttons · 05/05/2011 17:45

I think it will make no difference whatsoever that he is supposedly dead. he is just a name there will be many many more. the Americans always seem to get fixed on the killing of an individual. the governments of england and America are responsible for the murder of thousand yet that's ok because they deemed those murders necessary for the cause.

I mean that's basically what it is, justified murder. hHwever, the same luxury is not afforded to the likes of Bin laden. He also murdered for the/his cause.
Either way murder is hideous and all those who murder should be banged to rights. Murdering someone because they murdered does no make it ok imo.

bigbuttons · 05/05/2011 17:48

sorry for typos

bigbuttons · 05/05/2011 17:49

but for me it's not really the killing of BL, it was an inevitability, what sickens me is the rejoicing. That's sick.
