Whos watched it then? if not yet, will you watch?

I dont know if i will, its still a life lost.

i would have preffered he wasnt killed but taken to trial. im sure he would have been killed at some point anyway, tortured to death in the most painful manor. or he might have committed suicide or died in suspisious circumstances while in prison. maybe spies would have got him eventually.

I think we let him off killing him straight off. But part of me does feel like killing him could have prevented all these needless deaths had we had intelligence.

I dont know, your thoughts?

have these other leaders killed innocent people though terrorist acts KB?

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 15:48

Oh noes! I'm on another moron thread.

BigGitDad · 05/05/2011 15:49

To me there is no right or wrong. Had he been caught alive and put on trial I believe sooner or later have been kidnappings of US Citizens in exchange for Bin Laden. Those citizens would have ended up dead.
As it is, I am sure there will be revenge killings somewhere in the world so someone else will end up dead.
They do say the victor writes the history or words to that effect.

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 15:49

Let's get out of here and hide this. Come on, we can go and look at something else

VinegarTits · 05/05/2011 15:52
knittedbreast · 05/05/2011 15:52

i suppose it depends on what you call terrorism, im sure terrorism is invading a country and if it isnt how far of the mark is it?

im very worried by this talk of state santioned killings, i just cant see how we can say its ok for us to say killing x is legal but then for other countries not allowed to want to kill our leaders. all any of that will ever lead to is more war and again everyone suffers.

i think there will be reprisals for killing him, just a matter of time

OP posts:
TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 15:53

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, as someone said.

Bush and Blair dress up civilian deaths as "collateral damage" or an unfortunate consequence of war. bin Laden et al use civilian deaths as their main desired outcome.

I'm not sure there's much difference in the two, to be honest.

Dame Shirley, no need to call people morons for having a different opinion to you.

knittedbreast · 05/05/2011 15:55

i would agree tecklovingdad. but how do we draw the line. so many leaders get away will killing thousands of people and are never taken to justice-just look at blair.

OP posts:
miniwedge · 05/05/2011 15:55

No one will be watching any videos or looking at any pictures because none are being released.

The ones that people think they have seen are fakes.

Why the fuck any member of the general public would want to look at pictures or videos is beyond me.

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 15:55

knittedbreast, overtly the west are opposed to state sanctioned killings. I'm sure that there are many others that we have done, if it suited us.
You could also ask why him and not others? Why bomb Gaddafi (spelling) and not Mugabe?

gawdblimey · 05/05/2011 15:55

You can't say it's ok to murder him but it's not ok for him to murder someone.

but he has murdered someone already, so therefore by his standards must be ok to be murdered

live by the sword, die by the sword

DameShirleyKnot · 05/05/2011 15:58

It was the use of the phrase "I hope someone had the foresight to shove a pork sausage up his arse before they dumped him over board." that leads me to call "moron" I'm afraid TLD. Not different opinions.

Anyway hiding this now as I foresee further remarks of the same ilk and as glad as I am that Bin Laden is dead, I don't really want to read a bunch of ill-formed shite.

cantspel · 05/05/2011 15:58

yes there will be reprisals but there would be further terrorist attacks anyway. These people are nutters and they have never stopped plotting terror attacks. You cannot reason with them or reach a compromise as there isn't one. They want sharia and islam or death so not much middle ground.

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 15:59

I have been wondering at the power of the internet, on this. When did governments feel the need to prove they have done something? Would Churchill have done it? Would Kennedy have done it? Obama really shouldn't have to justify not showing pictures, he should just say "why would we release pictures just to satisfy the conspiracy theorists?".
They won't believe regardless.

Some of the conspiracies are wild too. Apparently people won't believe that a Special ops team flew in and killed him at night, but they will believe that Bush was happy to let him live (and ruin his own legacy) while staging fake shoot outs while colluding with terrorists and other ne'er do wells.

I also think Blair & Bush should be cited for war crimes, they lied to us about the reason for war and have effectively put hundreds of our young soldiers to death.

knittedbreast · 05/05/2011 15:59

i guess we have decided that africa isnt worth bothering about :(

I dont know, its just terribly sad seeing people crying out for help and knowing that if we intervene many civilians will die anyway. also once you remove or kill someone there are another hundred waiting to fill his position.

OP posts:
knittedbreast · 05/05/2011 16:00

id love to see bush and blair in court for their crimes-wont happen though

OP posts:
TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 16:01

Dame Shirley, fair enough. The sausage up the bum comment showed the posters true colours I think, not just the "yay he's dead" thought.

cantspel, they don't really want sharia or islam or death. If they were given them, they would find some other reason to commit terrorist acts.

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 16:02

If we set ourselves up as world police we do it all or nothing. Mugabe gets punished, same as Musharraf, Gaddafi, bin Laden, etc. We shouldn't be choosing which nutters we support and which ones we don't.

cantspel · 05/05/2011 16:04

So you dont like my phase about the sauage even though you are glad he is dead?
well by his mindset and that of his followers he is now a in Jannah with his 72 virgins but the application of the pork product means that even for his most faithful follower he will always be unclean and barred from jannah.

BigGitDad · 05/05/2011 16:05

That said Gaddifi and Mugabe are State leaders unlike Bin Laden hence he could be got at.

jasminetom · 05/05/2011 16:05

he is the least of your problems anyway, live or dead it is silly to believe that people are so stupid they will sleep better knowing he is dead. I'ts like saying that a maths teacher died therefore there will be no more maths.

jasminetom · 05/05/2011 16:06

OIL

GraceKelly1981 · 05/05/2011 16:11

Might be a completely blonde question here, but why is it OK to release pictures of the other men killed, but not OBL? I thought it was a taste issue, and a respect issue. So why release some but not others?

TechLovingDad · 05/05/2011 16:12

cantspel, I'm not throwing in comments about his religion, just his actions. You want to add in bigotry to your posts, be my guest.
