Weird female dieters logic or do I have a point?

Went out for a walk today. Stumbled across an ice cream van. DP says, "let's get an ice cream". I am trying to shift the baby weight but decided I would get a diet coke or something so I didn't feel left out and I was thirsty anyway. We get to the front of the queue and I ask if they have diet coke, but they only have normal coke, so I decided just to get an orange lolly as I figure that won't be too bad and will quench my thirst. But then he turns round as says he doesn't like anything they've got and doesn't want anything and we walk away...

I then turn around and say I only got something because he was getting something, I'm meant to be on a diet, but now I'm having an ice cream on my own etc etc, so he then says he'll eat my lolly then, and I then explain that then I'll feel left out because he's having something and I'm not. So I made him go back and get himself a feast, as he likes them doesn't he? Which he enjoyed, so obviously I know what's best for him...

Weird female logic or did I have a point??? Grin

"I only got something because he was getting something, I'm meant to be on a diet"

If you're meant to be on a diet then you eat /drink when you want something and not because someone else is having something.

You shouldn't have been got anything if it was only becasue he was having something.

Sorry Grin

SardineQueen · 24/04/2011 17:09

I'm sorry to say I think you were being baffling!

Did he look like this Confused? I know I would have!

MissPaintyOeuf · 24/04/2011 17:09

I can sort of see your point, as you were only having something because he wanted to. Then again, you're consuming the calories whether he's eating or not, so it's all academic really.

There probably aren't too many calories in an orange lolly anyway, I bet you walked it off round the park.

MsScarlett · 24/04/2011 17:12

I know I was being a bit female! Like if he'd have got a bag of chips I'd have had to have one, but wouldn't have bought my own! Grin

This was all in good humour btw, he thought it was quite funny and enjoyed his feast! Grin

I think you've got a point. If he hadn't suggested getting an icecream you wouldn't have had one.

Ice lollies sre harmless though. About 50 calories I reckon so don't beat yourself up about it. At least you were out walking;)

DramaInPyjamas · 24/04/2011 17:14

Diet Coke is no good for diets btw ;)

PiaThreeTimes · 24/04/2011 17:14

"Being female" Hmm

Tee2072 · 24/04/2011 17:15

I don't think you can blame it on being female, which is a very misogynistic attitude. You can blame it on not having a spine and the willpower to say 'no, sorry, I'm not having anything'.

Oh, I'm sorry, was this suppose to be funny?

MsScarlett · 24/04/2011 17:17

Fucking Hell!

I knew that first one would wind people up just after I posted it, oops!

Teach me for trying to be a bit light-hearted....

I think it's weird dieters logic, nothing to do with being female. Unless you think female means to be deprived of food.

Diets make you fat anyway, because you're constantly thinking about food, and if you do lose weight you'll pile it all back on when your body gets a chance to eat normally.

MsScarlett · 24/04/2011 17:22

I know!! Not really formally dieting, just trying to watch what I eat as these 2 spare stone of baby weight isn't going to disappear without a little bit of effort - just trying to make healthier choices like an orange lolly instead of a 99 with a flake, sauce and whipped cream... [busmile]

Actually I'm wondering how your DP got to the front of a queue for an ice cream van and then decided he didn't like anything they'd got. It's not like there are going to be many surprises on an ice cream van.

MsScarlett · 24/04/2011 17:25

Again, part of the reason I was a little miffed, HE suggest ice cream, then gets to front of queue and decides HE doesn't want one Hmm

We-ell, just to play Devil's advocate, you didn't have to have something just because he was.

superv1xen · 24/04/2011 19:02

to the person who said "diet coke is no good for diets" can i ask why not?

i am on a diet at the moment and i drink GALLONS of the stuff as it seems to suppress my appetite and fill me up.

is there something i should know about it?? Confused

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 24/04/2011 19:05

I've done this! In a restaurant when everyone says they'll have pudding. When the waiter comes over he asks me first and I decide to have one because everyone else has said they will. Then one by one they say no, just a coffee and I crumple up with embarassment and kick dh under the table until he orders something.Grin

chubsasaurus · 24/04/2011 19:06

Diet Coke is awful for diets

SO many toxins

Terrible stuff

Have you lost much weight?

Runningjustasfastasican · 24/04/2011 19:21

Diet coke is my WW treat and point free :)

I get you OP that would be me too!

discobeaver · 24/04/2011 19:25

Agree with the poster who couldn't understand how there can not be anything you like in an ice cream van, if you have decided to get an ice cream. Did he think it was a kebab van instead?

Getting something just because of someone else is a bit mad.

superv1xen · 24/04/2011 20:17

chubsa yeah i have lost 4lbs in 3 weeks.

all i have been doing is calorie counting and not going above about 1500 calories a day. plus quaffing DC like its going out of style :o lol

chubsasaurus · 24/04/2011 20:39

Fair enough, well done. It is terribly bad for you though.

RainbowPatooties · 24/04/2011 21:41
