Weird female dieters logic or do I have a point?

Went out for a walk today. Stumbled across an ice cream van. DP says, "let's get an ice cream". I am trying to shift the baby weight but decided I would get a diet coke or something so I didn't feel left out and I was thirsty anyway. We get to the front of the queue and I ask if they have diet coke, but they only have normal coke, so I decided just to get an orange lolly as I figure that won't be too bad and will quench my thirst. But then he turns round as says he doesn't like anything they've got and doesn't want anything and we walk away...

I then turn around and say I only got something because he was getting something, I'm meant to be on a diet, but now I'm having an ice cream on my own etc etc, so he then says he'll eat my lolly then, and I then explain that then I'll feel left out because he's having something and I'm not. So I made him go back and get himself a feast, as he likes them doesn't he? Which he enjoyed, so obviously I know what's best for him...

Weird female logic or did I have a point??? Grin

Yabu for drinking diet coke. Why do people think this is a healthy option? Drink water if you're thirsty! It's a hunger suppressor too!

Yabu. You were thirsty. You could have bought a bottle of water.

Diet coke is very bad for you anyway.

Its clear from your post that your DH is a feeder. He likes the baby weight and this was a cleverly planned ploy to keep it there Grin

Diet coke is the devils work.

It has been proven that the fake sweeteners in it trick your body into thinking its getting sugar and food. Of course it isnt. Your body sets the wheels in motion for dinner, then gets nothing :(
The sweetener cannot be matabolised by the body either. Your brain gets told its hungry and on average you will then consume 210 more calories at next meal than if you had had another drink.

  1. Diet coke doesn't help with diets. It primes your need for sugar. It is full of aspartame. Drink tap water.
  2. Ice lollies are sugar. You'd be better off with something healthy. Again it just spikes your blood sugar and makes your body want sugar.
  3. How you were was not because you're female. To say so is sexist and helps enforce stereotypes and does women down.
  4. If you're trying to lose weight he could have not suggest ice cream vans at all if he were going to be supportive. I can't imagine an ice cream did his body much good either.
  5. They're expensive anyway and a bit of a waste of money.

I am on a diet atm. I do love my Diet Coke [addicted]

BUT after getting down to 1 can a day (6+ before) then cutting it out all together, I have been losing more than double the lbs than I was before.

(loads of info here on MN about the evils of Diet Coke by more knowledgeable posters if you search)

  1. Life isnt there to be enjoyed, water and food supplement paste is all we need to survive, reproduce and die.
colditz · 24/04/2011 22:15

You're being ridiculous. he doesn't have to eat because you do, you don't have to refuse to eat because he doesn't want to.

mollycuddles · 24/04/2011 22:23

Yawn - the evils of diet coke. Love it. Drink it most days. Have lost nearly 6 stone in past 11 months. Through eating less and running. And not going to ice cream vans.

TransatlanticCityGirl · 24/04/2011 23:59

Definitely being unreasonable for thinking either a diet coke or an orange lolly is a healthy choice. Do ice cream vans not sell bottled water anymore?

good LORD your post made my head SPIN!
I have no idea Grin but I do think you have given us an insight into the baffling business of being a heterosexual male Grin
