I really hope the tosser who walked off with Ds's Ipod dies a slow extremely painful death as he has been inconsolable all dayAngry

Sad for DS.

angrymomma · 20/04/2011 22:18

Sorry but IADNBU, just so angry.
DS1 is 9. The 'person' who took it would have realised this as security settings are all for 4+ only. So all the apps and games were obviously for a child.

Worse thing is he has fallen out big time with DS2 who actually took it out of the Dock in DS1 s bedroom and threw it out the window. By the time we had rushed downstairs and outside it was gone, just the protective cover left.
Have spent all day trying to get in touch with Apple to try to block access using the serial No, but they are not interested apparently.

DS1 will probably never speak to his brother again, and I will never but Apple again.

I hope the wanker who is playing on it now dies of a really nasty disease like syphalis or, or, or......too angry to think of anything else!

Oh no, you must all be feeling terrible, and poor DS'. I have a baby and don't know much about kids, but could you do something that would help you to take your mind off it and help DS' make friends again, like that treasure hunt/ orienteering thing (is it this?)

squeakytoy · 21/04/2011 08:44

I doubt it would have worked anyway after being thrown out of a window.

lljkk · 21/04/2011 08:48

yanbu, that sucks.

angrymomma · 21/04/2011 11:08

Thankyou, I feel better now in the knowledge that I am right to be so enraged.
We scoured the front of the house and found no glass which is weird as ipod touch are so delicate, felt sure it would have broken the front on it.

ATM DS1 and DD are on the trampoline. DS2 is also in the garden but DS1 refusing to play with him still...oh dearSad

Will have to try out the treasure hunt idea I think, thanks BoSho, it looks really good.

Oh your poor DS - Is there no way you could get a new one?

I remember something of mine being stolen when my sister borrowed it without asking, and I was really upset that I wasn't allowed a new one, even though I had been really careful/obeyed all the rules about it.

I hope you are punishing your DS2.

ClenchedBottom · 21/04/2011 11:24

Hmm it's awful that someone swiped it that fast, but I'm really shocked that your DS2 threw it out of the window, tbh! - surely it would have been broken anyway????

madonnawhore · 21/04/2011 11:24

Naughty DS2! I'm not sure what Apple could have done about it though tbh.

Insurance?

Honestly? No one deserves to have their belongings stolen BUT your DS threw it out of a window!? Shock

I would be furious with your DS not Apple. What a naughty thing to do.

jojowest · 21/04/2011 12:21

so they didnt actually steal it, but found it chucked out?

eggcupofcoffee · 21/04/2011 17:23

Did you see where it landed out of the window? Are you sure it was taken and is not lying in a bush?

If I had seen an ipod lying on the path I would have picked it up and, unless I had seen it fly out of the window, I would assume it had fallen out of a pocket/bag as someone walked by. I would take it to a police station at my next convenience and would not have gone along the road knocking on doors just to ask if it was belonging to each house. Have you contacted police to see if handed in?

Also if it was smashed then someone maybe picked it up (perhaps with intent to hand it in) but when saw it was all broken assumed it was dumped as litter and stuck it in a bin. Are there any public bins along the road nearby?

Quenelle · 21/04/2011 17:29

Perhaps the person who found it has handed it into the police?

I know, it's a longshot...

I don't blame DS1 for being pissed at DS2 though.

rainbowinthesky · 21/04/2011 17:39

I expect someone saw it lying in the road and thought it was lost. I would be Angry at the ds who threw it out of the window. Whoever found it probably didnt realise they were stealing it.

Nanny0gg · 21/04/2011 17:47

How old is DS2?

Mandy2003 · 21/04/2011 17:48

I think the OP is angry with Apple due to their disinterest when she's tried to report it stolen.

Owing to the cost of it versus any excess on the house insurance, it is probably worth claiming?

OP, does your DS2 often behave like this Confused

Pancakeflipper · 21/04/2011 17:51

Contact your police station. Look on any forum sites and stick a lost post up. If I found an iPod on the floor I wouldn't be looking to see what window it had been flung out of. I'd have thought it had fallen out of someone's pocket or bag.

angrymomma · 21/04/2011 18:51

Yes I konw it was a stupid thing for DS2 to do, and he is being punished, sort of...bit hard though as he's only 3 and doesn't seem to understand why his brother is mad with him.

DS2 threw it out of window, I was in kitchen saying bye to my mum as she walked uot the door at side of house. We live in a cul-de-sac and only people walking past at that very moment were a young couple .I noticed them because they were carrying a ladder and it just stuck in my mind.

DS2 raced out of same door 30 seconds later. No hedge just a pebbly front with no fence. He picked up the cover but no ipod.

So the only people who could possibly have picked it up were the young couple with the ladder...it must have practically landed at their feet.

At first we thought DS2 had just hidden it in DS1's room somewhere, but we have turned it upside down and no luck.

When I informed DCs Dad about the whole thing, he just said it wasn't really DS2s fault as 'he's only a baby' (Exs usual response to anything naughty DS2 does).

Wish I could afford to buy another, but I only got it last month for DS1s birthday, and it took me a while to save up for.

DS1 really took good care of it too, about the only thing he ever did, but EX blames DS1 for letting DS2 play in his room.

Am trying to fix up some treats for DS1 next week which I hope might make him feel better.

OP posts:
Emmanana · 21/04/2011 19:10

If you live in a cul de sac, presumably the couple with a ladder were visiting someone, (to help with DIY maybe?) Have you tried knocking on your neighbours doors to see if they had any ladder wielding visitors today? They may have handed it to the person they were visiting 'Hey - I found this in your cul de sac, have a word any see if any of the youngsters around here have dropped it'
It's worth a try... [busmile]

HappyMummyOfOne · 21/04/2011 19:19

Would you have replaced it if it was broken after being thrown from the window or would DS1 have had to suffer due to the behaviour of his brither? I doubt it would have survived being thrown from an upstairs window.
