to clean my oven?

It has been a few months days since I last cleaned it so is in a bit of a state, and I can't face itBlush

And before GetOrfMyLand comes along, I know, I am a slattern and do worship at your High Priestess Altar of Good Housekeeping, :o but am just unworthy

YADNBU. Do it now!

shesparkles · 20/04/2011 14:24

I did it a few months ago and it was £46 very well spent!

Go for it Grin

alphamummy · 20/04/2011 14:25

YANBU why the hell not? :)

breathing · 20/04/2011 14:26

Im doing this. I have a clean house but the oven is my downfall.

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 14:27

I was thinking the same thing when I was cooking dinner last night!
I can't remember when I last cleaned mine haven't cleaned mine for a while, and it takes so long... and its boring....

YADNBU, can you send them round to mine once they've finished yours!? Grin

ChaoticAngelofchocolateeggs · 20/04/2011 14:27

Oven Pride, it comes with a plastic bag that you put in oven shelves and anything else removable (I put in the inner glass on my oven door) in and pour in some of the liquid. Seal the bag, make sure you coat what's inside the bag in the liquid and leave as per instructions. You can then use the remainder of the liquid to clean the inside of your oven. Works for me Grin

Jacksterbear · 20/04/2011 14:35

YANBU IMO. We do it.

OTOH I second the effectiveness of Oven Pride - my friend uses it and her oven comes up cleaner that ours does after a professional clean - just too lazy to do it myself Grin.

sofaqueenie · 20/04/2011 14:36

YA sooooooo NBU!!

Do it. I have, it would've taken me ages to get it as clean as they did.

chocadoodle · 20/04/2011 14:50

YANBU Do it! The best £40 I've spent in a long time.

Oven Pride is the best supermarket oven cleaner if you'd rather not spend the money though. Although it doesn't bring it up as well as a professional and you do still need to spend quite a lot of time and elbow grease.

OTheHugeManatee · 20/04/2011 14:50

YADNBU. Cleaning ovens is gross. When I moved into my current flat the oven hadn't been cleaned since the Stone Age for a while and it took a whole bottle of lethal chemicals and most of a day to get it even basically clean.

olderyetwider · 20/04/2011 14:52

You're supposed to clean them Shock

Crystyclear · 20/04/2011 14:54

doesn't the heat burn the dirt off when you use it? Confused

TotemPole · 20/04/2011 14:56

Do they come round and just do the oven, and that's their job, cleaning ovens?

I didn't know such people existed.

BringBackGoingForGold · 20/04/2011 15:13

You clean your oven???

caramelwaffle · 20/04/2011 15:21

Yadnbu.

Happymm · 20/04/2011 16:24

Yes Totem! They just come and think you are a dirty lazy slattern clean your oven and leave it all sparkly! :o

I bought some oven cleaner 3 years ago when our pretty new over needed its first clean. Then realised I could not use it when pg. Over still has not been cleaned, is filthy and I am pg again.

Where do I find someone to clean it?

BoattoBolivia · 20/04/2011 16:47

I love oven clean people. They take all the shelves out to the van and leave them to soak in 'stuff' while they attack the rest of the oven. So you have no nasty chemicals in the house. When they have finished, it looks like it has just come out of a showroom, and you can see through the little glass door! Money very well spent in my book.

BoattoBolivia · 20/04/2011 16:48

oven clean

grovel · 20/04/2011 16:56

Why would anyone want to clean an oven anyway?

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 17:57

And why would anyone choose a job that involved cleaning lots of ovens.... I think they may be mad... surely no one enjoys cleaning ovens!?

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 17:59

And how much are we talking for a lovely person to come and clean my oven...?

grovel · 20/04/2011 18:00

About £50. They're always drop dead gorgeous (if you can get over the whiff of grease).

Happymm · 20/04/2011 18:01

Think it's £40-£50? Not sure as haven't had done yet-but seriously planning on:o
