to clean my oven?

It has been a few months days since I last cleaned it so is in a bit of a state, and I can't face itBlush

And before GetOrfMyLand comes along, I know, I am a slattern and do worship at your High Priestess Altar of Good Housekeeping, :o but am just unworthy

Oh I love this. My house is pristine but I never ever clean the oven.
Would they judge me, I am so Blush by it.
Perhaps I could just go out and leave dh too face the humiliation.

Op you must do it.

beesimo · 20/04/2011 18:09

You are providing employment for someone who will be more than willing to do the job. £50 cash in hand is not bad going for a couple of hours work

I'd say go for it OP you are a benefactor not a lazy bugger.

BoattoBolivia · 20/04/2011 18:10

Depends on the type of oven and whether you want the hob and or grill done as well, but £40-£60 is about right from last time I had it done, last year sometime. They never make a comment about mine, although it usually has cake and alsorts on it!!

Happymm · 20/04/2011 20:05

Thank you beesimo-I like your thinking! Am a benefactor, not lazy bugger :o

Do it! do it!

Did mine with Oven Pride 2 weeks ago and I'm sure it is meant to be much easier than giving nirth more conventional methods, however I hated it!

Really want to get a professional in, but don't know how I can cope with the shame much it costs and looks. So you do it as a trial and benefit MNetters everywhere!

Then I can do the same next decade year!!

Yours eternally gratefully

PD

I got mine done, £40 and it took him ages but was so so worth it so you are DDNBU!

marmaladetwatkins · 20/04/2011 20:29

I pay to get mine done and the lovely man makes it look brand new. £40 once every 6 months = bargain!

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 20:58

Bloody hell! Thats a bargain!
Just got to pluck up the courage to let a stranger see my oven Blush
It was painful enough when my oven door fell off a couple of weeks ago and my friends husband offered to put it back on... oh the shame.....

Salmotrutta · 20/04/2011 21:16

I wouldn't judge you - but my Mum would Grin

I don't remember when I last cleaned my oven and I'm taking notes. Not so hot on cleaning the top of the cooker either. Any tips for that?

I don't let my Mum see my oven Blush

Milliways · 20/04/2011 21:26

I used to keep saying I'll do it & spend the £50 on me, but it got bad and I had cookerburra in and they were fab - it looked like brand new :)

UKSky · 20/04/2011 22:15

I use OvenU - he comes once or twice a year and we're on very friendly terms..............but he's not drop dead gorgeous he could be my Dad!!!.

Costs vary. Ours costs £85 but we have an extra wide cooker/oven. So can't use ovenpride as the bags are not big enough.

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 22:38

Do you think they'd buy my 'I'm pregnant so can't use oven pride' excuse!?
I'm only 9wks so that wouldn't explain the filth in there that has quite obviously been there for way longer than 9wks... but still....
DH is working away, I'll get someone in before he comes back home and then tell him I cleaned it, he'll tell me I shouldn't have done it and then feel the need to be nice to me to make up for not being here to clean it... that sounds fair enough doesn't it!? Grin
