to be devastated at finding a grey pubic hair

I'm 43 next month and, after a brief period of panic involving loads of research about facelifts and working out whether I could afford to get a loan for one, I think I've generally adjusted to the ageing process and am fairly philosophical about the wrinkles, greying hair, broken veins etc. But this has really upset me. Surely only really old ladies have a grey bush? And I can't imagine dyeing it. AIBU to be so depressed about it?

Get fat, then you can't see it Grin

I haven't seen mine in years as fat and a bit blind

Beamur · 17/04/2011 20:46

YANBU at all.
I found one a while ago - I'm 40. It was soooo depressing.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/04/2011 20:46

And the being a bit blind helps with the wrinkles too

dementedma · 17/04/2011 20:50

lmao! this will be followed by them starting to thin so you will just have sparse grey pubes. honestly. Worse is that not only do i grow chin whiskers, I grew a WHITE one!!Shock

Hassled · 17/04/2011 20:52

I found a grey nasal hair recently. I don't know what was more depressing - the fact I had a nasal hair long enough to spot or the fact it was grey.

atthecarwash · 17/04/2011 20:54

Brazilian is the way to go.....

shakey1500 · 17/04/2011 20:56

Count yourself lucky you only found one!!!

GingerWrath · 17/04/2011 20:56

Urgh, I get chin hairs regularily and my nasal hairs need trimming fortnightly.

Luckily Ginger people tend to not go grey but get blonde.

How come blokes lose hair (DH receding and leg hairs thinning out) and we get hairier?!

Happymm · 17/04/2011 21:00

That'd be because as our wonderful lady hormones run out, we have a disproportionately high level of man mones (testosterone). Bugger bugger bugger!Shock

SkinittingFluffyBunnyBonnets · 17/04/2011 21:00

YABU. It's hair. It's not your soul.

bellastella · 17/04/2011 21:06

At least you're nearly 43. Getting grey head hair when you're 18 isn't much fun and grey muff hairs at 25 is worse. I usually pull them out with tweezers but can't currently as I'm 40 weeks pregnant!

upsylazy · 17/04/2011 21:28

I do think humans kind of peak too soon - you reach your pinnacle of beauty and physical prowess in your early twenties and then have about sixty years of watching your body slowly fall apart. What really hacks me off is that, despite having numerous wrinkles, I still get fecking spots. I'm sure I read somewhere that your clit starts to shrink as well. Is there no end do the indignity?

marriednotdead · 17/04/2011 21:42

I know exactly what you mean. I also have far too many greys (only one of THOSE though which is plucked out always). And am still using the same spot stuff as the household teens Hmm

Mum kindly informed me that pubes mostly drop out- why do they tell us this stuff?! Perhaps they get worn away by the Tena pads...

You'd better be bloody wrong about the clit shrinking though ShockGrin

BeakerTheMuppetMuppet · 17/04/2011 21:46

wait til it's your EYEBROWS going grey Shock

and sobs Sad

Cymar · 17/04/2011 21:53

PMSL @ Laurie.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2011 21:55

Not found a grey fanjo hair yet, but I'm getting Old Eyebrows at 37. Sad Two long long Denis Healey ones and now a sprinkling of white eyebrow bristles that make me feel like a pig.

YANBU - grey pubes is a sort of Rubicon, regardless of what you do to get rid of them/ignore them.

EmmaBemma · 17/04/2011 22:02

I have one and I'm 33! Think yourself lucky. It's a lonely gray pube at the moment but every time I see it glinting in the bathroom light I shudder.

pingu2209 · 17/04/2011 22:59

today I had to deal with my ds broken ankle on a trampoline. This thread has really made me laugh. Thanks.

Beamur · 18/04/2011 21:07

Could be worse, apparently - and I truly hope (if this is true) that it only affects men (no offence chaps) - that mens ears and noses continue to grow (very slowly) as they get old.

MaisyMooCow · 18/04/2011 21:21

This thread is too depressing, I'm leaving right now :)

moanymandy · 18/04/2011 21:29

I am 24 and have found grey hairs down there!! Blush

I put it down to the stress of having a 9lb 2oz baby!! Grin

whatever17 · 18/04/2011 23:05

Ah yes - I remember the halcyon days back when I worried about grey pubes.

Try grey eyebrows and grey chin hairs. I'm 42, I blame global warming.

sprinkles77 · 18/04/2011 23:09

33 and had them for ages. several of them. Ermm wax them off!

whatever17 · 18/04/2011 23:17

Try not to shag anyone. With the lights on.

Honeydragon · 18/04/2011 23:21

"I put it down to the stress of having a 9lb 2oz baby!! "

You mean the shock prematurely aged your fanjo ahead of the rest of your body? Grin
