water features - nice or tacky?

Just curious to see which way will go!

I am getting a solar powered one as a birthday present, we have recently had the garden done with a nice big planting area which we have been filling up with various plants, but there is a big drain cover in it. So wanted something to sit on the drain cover.

I think it is very nice, it is this one www.primrose.co.uk/-p-82.html

So feel free to admire it or tell me I am a tasteless twat who should be shot Grin

It's not the worst one I've ever seen and as long as you love it, bugger what anyone else thinks.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/04/2011 09:25

So what is the worst one you have seen then?

OMG! I just saw the fairy one! Grin oh, I have to get one of those! It's so tacky it's fabulous! You know those things that are just SO horrible and cringy that they turn into amazing. somhow. Hmm
(I'm not really going to get one, Grin but it's so naff I love it!)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/04/2011 09:27

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 16/04/2011 09:28

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 16/04/2011 09:30

xpost again! frog one? show me. need laughs.

purepurple · 16/04/2011 09:31

From the same page, I would consider this tacky.
It is overpriced and very ugly. Just because they call it 'contempory', doesn't mean they can charge over the odds for it.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/04/2011 09:35

Yes Purple - not really my style!! Far too pretentious!

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/04/2011 09:36

The loveliest thing about water features is the nice trickly sound they make. It's so soothing. I miss ours and can't wait to get a new one (old one too heavy to come with us when we moved house).

Your garden is for you to enjoy, not the general public, so do what you want. Idf you try and make a garden to please everyone you will dither forever.

SpotsMumSally · 16/04/2011 09:52

You need this two and a half grand humongous silver ball

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 16/04/2011 09:56

I like them, but the solar ones are not very reliable in my experience, ours only lasted two years before the panel and pump packed up, the same happened to my parents (different feature).

SolarPanel · 16/04/2011 10:01

There's a large selection here

same link but clickable

follyfoot · 16/04/2011 10:02

This is the one for me. Even better upside down.

grovel · 16/04/2011 10:05

It's too tacky.
But it is a tad naff.
In my humble opinion.

grovel · 16/04/2011 10:05

Sorry, it's not too tacky.

SolarPanel · 16/04/2011 10:08

I love this one but sadly don't have £18,000 to spare
