Um, no.

grovel · 05/04/2011 16:20

It'll be fine.

FabbyChic · 05/04/2011 16:21

A week? I'd throw it out. Must stink.

thisisyesterday · 05/04/2011 16:22

i wouldn't personally

TheVisitor · 05/04/2011 16:22

IF it's meat, then no.

Parmallama · 05/04/2011 16:22

I wouldn't touch it...

A couple of days in the fridge would have been fine, but a week?!

NO...get rid!

LaurieFairyCake · 05/04/2011 16:22

Look very carefully at it in daylight - is there even a hint of white mould ?

FoofffyShmoofffer · 05/04/2011 16:22

Give it a go and come back and let us know how it went Grin
and if we don't see you for a bit....

pippala · 05/04/2011 16:23

It will be fine as long as you heat it up above 70 degrees for 2mins at that heat.
Do you have a temp probe ? If not microwave until boiling.
In the old days the meat roasted on a sunday was left in the pantry and used for meals for the rest of the week! Even having a fridge my MIL still leaves meat covered in her cool pantry!!!!
We are a bit over causious sometimes but if you look at a spag bol ready meal in the supermarket it will have a two week sell by date on it.
Enjoy!

Doesn't stink at all, but even for me this is pushing it a bit. I normally don't keep things more than 4-5 days....

Think I will bin it...

bigTillyMint · 05/04/2011 16:24

Mmmmm, not sure even I would eat that!

Duna · 05/04/2011 16:24

I wouldn't and I'm very relaxed about these things.

If you do though, be sure to boil it properly for at least 10 mins.

knittedbreast · 05/04/2011 16:25

i wouldnt

grovel · 05/04/2011 16:32

It will be nicely marinaded.

Acanthus · 05/04/2011 16:32

Eew

upahill · 05/04/2011 16:38

No I wouldn't.

sparkle12mar08 · 05/04/2011 16:41

5 days yes, but a week, I'm not sure tbh. And we're very relaxed in our house.

LineRunner · 05/04/2011 16:41

If it smells ok, and you boil it properly as Duna says, you will be fine.

Can't stand waste. And spag bol well steeped in wine is rather lovely.

KatieWatie · 05/04/2011 16:50

I'd have it, but I'll famously eat anything and have a stomach of cast iron (never had food poisoning).

However, I think I'm this way because I eat week-old food and always have (thrifty mother-of-mine) so my stomach is accustomed to expect literally ANYTHING. It might be a bit of a shock to your system if you suddenly start doing it.

MCos · 05/04/2011 17:02

This interesting. My rule is normally 3 days. Sometimes on day 4 I wonder if I'm wasting it by dumping it. But I guess I really wouldn't fee comfortable after day 4...

Asinine · 05/04/2011 17:09

I have been known to freeze something i'm not sure about and eat it a month later when i've forgotten what the problem was. Am still alive Grin

pigletmania · 05/04/2011 18:26

My FIL did that with lasagna that had been in the fridge in their house in Gibraltar during summer months. I was like oh your going to get food poisoning, but he was fine, they hate waste. FIL is a GP (medicine) and knew he would be ok when he ate it, I would not though Grin

booandbump · 05/04/2011 18:27

I wouldn't. I only keep bolognese for 2 days in the fridge.
