Apols. if there have been loads of threads similar.

I can't be arsed with it. Yes it is all very nice but if DD forgets to get me a card, I wouldn't care.

I don't want breakfast in bed either.

I think it is a daft concept tbh. Say thanks to me every day, not just save it all up for one day a year and buy me some rancid daffs.

A very sane point of view.

controlpantsandgladrags · 01/04/2011 14:04

very sane GOML. I however shall be milking it for all it's worth Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/04/2011 14:08

DD forgot last year. She made a card for me very hurriedly and ran down to the shop and got me a Mars Bar Hmm. I told her she shouldn't have bothered.

I don't even bloody like Mars Bars.

mothers day isnt even about you....or me........its nothing to do with ANY mothers

just card companies...and florists......and anyone else who wants to promote something

so YANBU

tortilla · 01/04/2011 14:11

What controlpants says :) I am expecting DH to do all the cooking, laundry, cleaning and baby-wrangling while simultaneously feeding me grapes while I recline on the sofa...

tortilla · 01/04/2011 14:12

Note I said DH - at 3 and 6mo, the DCs just have to give me a cuddle and I'll be happy. I just quite like the idea of DH having to do everything around the house for me for once :)

orangeeyebrows · 01/04/2011 14:14

you dont care so much you have to make a thread about how much you dont care

LOL

(for the anti-lol people) :)

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/04/2011 14:14

And restaurants who want to charge a fortune for Sunday lunch.

I was planniong to go out for lunch Sunday (not for mothers day, just because), DP said for us not to bother as it would be mobbed and we would never get in anywhere. So will now have to bastarding well cook.

I quite like a nice homemade card.

I really hate breakfast in bed.

However, I do not want a Westlife CD, lilac slippers, "I love Mummy" Mug or whatever other tat supermarkets think mums like.

GypsyMoth · 01/04/2011 14:17

cook what??? one of the mothers day offers from the supermarket......complete with dessert, chocs, wine and some flowers as well??Grin

GypsyMoth · 01/04/2011 14:18

if anyone dared buy me a 'wastelife' cd then there would be trouble!!

bigknickersbigknockers · 01/04/2011 14:18

I agree, think its a total waste of time... but not quite as much a waste of time as fathers day Grin

ethelina · 01/04/2011 14:19

i get breakfast in bed every morning.

IslaValargeone · 01/04/2011 14:21

I don't give a flying fart either, but you haven't half put me in the mood for a Maras Bar.

BreconBeBuggered · 01/04/2011 14:21

YANBU not to want a load of Mother's Day dross. YABU if you think I should deny myself the opportunity to have my stocks of handmade chocolates replenished by a dutiful family.

Olessaty · 01/04/2011 14:21

Well, it would be nice to feel special and spoiled every once in a while, but I don't expect it as I am on my own with young children. I'd love breakfast in bed, cards and chocolate at some point, a birthday, valentines day, mothers day, any old day.

beesimo · 01/04/2011 14:21

Don't be such spoilsports let the bairns enjoy treating you.

We always make a big deal of Mothers Day.

Besides me getting spoilt presents, meals ect we always get the photo albums out from when they were tiny. If we're not all crying and laughing by teatime I'll be very surprised

IslaValargeone · 01/04/2011 14:22

Obviously that should read Mars Bar, in case anyone thinks it is some inferior rival by Nestle Confused

ethelina · 01/04/2011 14:24

Its my first one as a mother this year so i shall be milking it. This does mean that after years of inactivity on my part, i have been guilted into gettin my mum a pot plant. Hmm

i foresee sunday being a right trailing around pain in the arse.

It is the ONLY DAY OF THE YEAR ( apart from possibly my birthday) that is about me. Well, only a couple of hours really before everyone reverts back to there invalid ways...I am looking forward to it!

GypsyMoth · 01/04/2011 14:39
