Defending greggs!

notremotelyintofootie · 29/01/2011 14:52

Their sausage rolls in particular!

I know they are seen as being up there with fruit shoots etc but today I will defend them to the death!

Dd is 14 months and has had a cold for a few days but woke today with a temperature of 38.4, it has gone up to 39.6 and back to 38 but dd doesn't want to play, or really eat, she has had bf and some very diluted squash but generally not interested.... Until ds (11) came back with a ring doughnut for her and some greggs sausage rolls! She basically ignored the cake but gobbled up the sausage rolls!

Yay! All hail greggs sausage rolls!

She is now on me asleep thanks to food and ibuprofen...

manicbmc · 29/01/2011 16:34

I remember running down the high street in the 70s to buy warm stotties and get them back home, still warm, and scoff them - all buttery and dripping. Grin

Their sausage rolls are like a bite of nostalgia too.

I've had a warm glow all day because my very fussy ds ate a whole sausage roll when out with his Dad today. It was a Greggs. I now love Greggs. It's always a little miracle when new food is tried and embraced.

MsSparkle · 29/01/2011 18:25

How much is a sausage roll in Greggs?

WorzselMummage · 29/01/2011 18:29

Ds (2) can spot a gregs from a hundred paces Grin

TheVisitor · 29/01/2011 18:32

I have never bought anything from greggs - may have to investigate...

FelicityParpworth · 29/01/2011 18:41

I had a gingerbread man from there a couple of days ago. It was blardy lush.

cupcake001 · 29/01/2011 18:43

I love greggs!! Especially sausage and bean melts, id eat them everyday if i could get away with it

IcingOnTheCake · 29/01/2011 18:45

We have a lush bakery in the town where i live called Idah's in Bourenmouth and it is yummy! Their prices are very cheap and they are way better then Greggs the grease pit!

Am drooling thinking of their sausage rolls and fudge brownieGrin

OTTMummA · 29/01/2011 18:45

I gorged on Greggs mince pies all december, put on 3lbs, and haven't been back since, will have to go see if its still standing and have a treat!

Remotew · 29/01/2011 18:45

Ours is very clean. They used to be called Birketts and the head office is quite local to me.

I love their Steak Bakes, Ham and Egg sub rolls, Caramel Shortbread. DD loves Sausage and Bean Melts.

Remotew · 29/01/2011 18:46

OTT their Mince Pies were to die for.

fedupofnamechanging · 29/01/2011 18:54

Before Christmas, they did a nice chicken, stuffing and cranberry bake. Twas lush! I am also a fan of their mini donuts (when warm and freshly baked). My DC love a steak bake/sausage roll or pizza slice.

My local inde bakers is shit. Smells great, but the bread tastes like a pre schooler made it out of playdough!

midlandsmumof4 · 29/01/2011 18:54

I used to love their corned beef pasty. As a treat now and again you understand Wink. Sadly they don't do them anymore-not round here anyway. What's a stotty?Blush.

OTTMummA · 29/01/2011 18:58

Festive slice karma! OMG, they are devine!
